Dean, I can't offer an opinion on the "high-bar" question but I like the song and the production sounds good. The only nit-pick I have is with the abrupt ending which doesn't sound natural IMO. However, maybe if the powers that be listen up to that point then the ending won't matter!

Re: will this one jump over the country high-bar?
I played it at the mp3 link.I like it a lot. I always make sure I mention again that country is not my genre. What matters is not if it's a very good song, but if it's a great song. That's what will determine if it makes the country high bar. I think it's at least a very good song. (I'm being super-critical in anticipation of the bar.)At the rally, you got to see how Sherrill Blackman listened for killer hooks and other things that make a song stand out. The hook is simple and stays in your head. Big plus! I don't know whether more melodic lift at the chorus is needed but there is a rhythmic change-up at the chorus which does make it stand out some from the verse. All you can do now is submit it and see. It's definitely worth submitting... Good luck!! Casey

I originally had planned to write a better ending, for now i added a crash and tambo to end, probably helps a little.http://marcblackwellmusic.com/marc_mp3/ ... x2.mp3Bill, Casey and Feaker, thanks for the comments.Marc
