Re: will this one jump over the country high-bar?
Hey Marc, my damn computer is wiggin' out & doesn't want to play nice with Taxi so I can't listen to the new link. I'm sure the end is fine. Like I said, if they listen that far I think you're safe!

Nice tune!! Nice production!! I think the vocals could cut through a teeney-tiny bit more after the 1st verse and during the choruses (teeney-tiny). They seemed fine on the bridge. Ending might benefit from just holding that last note instead of cutting it off.Great Sound!Good Luck,Kitz

Great production!Nicely done guys. This song could be a radio song easy.My only gripe is I think the vocal delivery in the chorus could have some more emotion and feeling. The V/C seperation is nice the lift is good but the vocal delivery is a little to relaxed IMO.Thats it. If I dont hear this on the radio next year Im gonna start writin for Celine Deion!!!Devin, Banjo is mixed great to me. Listening on my uber hi-fi audiophile cabinets. Sounds awesome. And hey, better to be panned right than not being panned at all!! M~

Hey, thanks everyone! Appreciate y'all taking the time to give us some feedback. Bill thanks for heads-up on the ending. Casey, you are getting to something we've been wondering about the chorus .. is it 'big' enough to get us over the country high bar. I really like it, so do the reviewers so far, but the fact that we are wondering makes me think we are probably very good, but maybe not great yet. Matt thinks we might be great, but only need a vocal styling tweak. We'll see.A few folks think the vox are mixed too low or are unclear .. thanks .. we'll listen closer. Thanks,Dean

Thanks Aaron...are you thinking the lyric, music, or whole package needs more brewing? I'm really glad to see you stop by, please let us know.Nov 14, 2008, 3:43pm, matthoggard wrote:Thats it. Re: will this one jump over the country high-bar?
hey dean!very nice tune, i have to agree with some of what's been said--suggestion for the length, like all mine...cut the intro a bit...--i'd like to hear your vocal in places a bit more out front--hey, did you hire gaunce or kauffman to sing this? LOL--sounds great BTW..--the chorus, it seems to need more punch, sounds too much like the verse, thought the lyrics IMHO are just fine--maybe try a bit higher in places, and DEFINITELY turn up your harmony in the chorus.. IMHO--nice bridge!!!!!that's all i got for now, very very nice job man!all the best, warrenps: it's a magical thing is maybe as valid a title as the one you have....but your choice obviously...just one listen..wh

Re: will this one jump over the country high-bar?
Thanks Ontario, we appreciate your honest opinion. Thanks, Warren. Yeah the intro probably could be shorter for optimal pitching. Marc Blackwell sings it. Yeah, we are in agreement that the chorus needs more punch, more hook, more lift, more separation from verse if we want to get over the high-bar. Marc is gonna try to find a new chorus melody. One that really emphasizes the hook-title (DANCIN' WITH A PRETTY GIRL) with a big natural melody lift right away, with the first phrase. If anyone wants to throw out some general ideas that might kick-start him, we'd appreciate that.
