Re: Cherry Pie
kitz ....a very fresh sound.reminds me of john mayers guitar work when he first started .. a little ... but then again ...it does have an incredibly happy vibe to it. but it stumbles here and there ... and it's probably cus of how you envision the stops vs how they come off ... there is such a great flow to the playing and then suddenly POOF! it is a bit disconcerting .... and I haven't looked at the timing to guess what it is but from a simple vibe POV, I'd like a bit less avante garde approach and a bit more steady stuff.production wise, not much to go off on but in reality, I'd like to hear the guitar a bit more bright in some parts but a lot more transparent and void of mid highs as well ... it almost sounds as if tho you've paid homage to the low end, you felt the high end was crap and you wanted to go all midrange on the sound.that guitar needs to sparkle. and it doesn't.but mood wise, I'm feeling very upbeat after hearing this ... very positive. maybe even happy ...but I couldn't dance to it and it had a strange beat so it gets only a 74 tonight. (meaning the beat wasn't great ... and never forget - that's what a whole lot of music is about)
Gave up guilt when I left the ol' school girl uniform behind. You know, cute little skirts and knee socks, nuns and rulers and all that.

Re: Cherry Pie
Thanks for the thumbs up everybody!!! I feel that it still needs some work but you get the picture of what I'm trying to do.cj,I normally play this tune freeform but decided to try and add bass and drums - so I laid a click and drums based on the click. It was a bit foreign to me in places to have to adhere to the perfect meter. It kind of took away the feel that I am used to. I think I need to try again the way I normally play it and see where that leads. You may or may not be able to dance to it when I'm done but at least you'll have and excuse for ice cream... Thanks for the astute listen and comments.Sincerely,Kitz

Re: Cherry Pie
Kitz,I'm late to this thread and it sounds like you've already re-posted without the drums. To my ears, your guitar tone is very good and playing is fluid. The bridge is great, really creative. The bass is supportive; I'd like to hear it with an upright, but it's not necessary. It think I'd definitely have a guitar-only version on hand as music supers seem to love that sound.Interestingly, the bass is pretty unobtrusive until the very ending when, to my ears, it hits a couple of notes that don't seem to work as well. I'm a jazz guy, so there are no "wrong" notes, but...

Re: Cherry Pie
Works real well without anything else!Maybe use this to submit to acoustic listings as is, then do another with light percussion to hedge your bets with other listings.I'd agree with Vince on that bass at the end.AND an upright would sound real good in there for another version!Real nice work Kitz!
I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.

I'm impressed. don't know what sort of gig this is gonna fit in on, taxi-wise, but as a piece, in it's own right, it's got legs.

Re: Cherry Pie
hey kitz!!you are one talented dude--this bends towards my light and whimsical side, and i like it--jazzy cool, and i can hear this going places...i'm just catching it now, didn't hear the orig, so yep, what the hell's wrong with it now? nothing--but, for a 2 for 1 vibe, you might do exactly what was suggested anyway--this version AND a just guitar version, and pitch it--bet you'd get a forward in a taxi minute...but again, as i'm listening and reading orest up there, yep good idea.very nice work, all the best, warren

Re: Cherry Pie
A wonderfully cheerful ditty which almost humbly possesses three significant ins: intricate, inventive, intuitive. It has celebration written all under it.The drums’ repetitiveness only becomes apparent when the accomplished twiddling steps up and makes its own percussion. Thus the previously adequate laid-backness seems to fall behind, although brassy stars appear to light the way during the diversion at 1:19.The melody has enough intonation to replace lyric and is its own language. Beautiful dancing rhythms which twist and lead put me in mind of the prelude to Heart’s Crazy On You.By 1:43 I’m hungry for another variation, though not unhappy to be led by the groove, but then the fall-down ending is a definite disappointment. I would’ve liked a mounting cheer before a drop. I feel like I’ve reached the end of the novel only to find the last two pages have been torn out.
This post is the kiss of death to your thread.

Re: Cherry Pie
Lovely playing, kitz, and a lovely melody too.Thought it could do with a few more cymbals for build in the last quarter or so of the song. 2c.Enjoyed this!
