Re: Attempting Country
Hey Bill,This sounds more Alt-Country to me. I would pitch it to one of those listings when they come up. In most cases the Alt-country vibe is more rock influenced and the lyrics don't have to meet the high-bar of current Country. Most Alt-country bands and artists write their own tunes so this would probably be a film/tv pitch in that case.Best,Cisko

Re: Attempting Country
hey checked out your song, production was good but i was wanting more rhymes blow snow so go know and go again..ninety five alive by dry clive ( just cause it rhymed) and crythen similar sounding rhymes in the last part withride mine rightYou're not going to find this in any current song on the radioIt was kind of getting monotonous listening to it because you werent changing the sound so it was dragging to me a lot, the clive rhyme was an obvious forced rhyme alsoBut people seem to like it, this is only my opinionI just think It could've used more ear candyTake care

Re: Attempting Country
Thank you all. I like the Uncle Tupelo comparison, that's at least something I can inderstand. I feel that alt/country is as close as I need (want?) to venture into country. Too many rules that I don't understand.I have a new mix up now with lap steel, fixed (more simple) drums, louder harmonies, etc. I still have a boo-boo on the lap steel to fix in the bridge. There is a listing now for alt. country ala Uncle Tupleo so maybe I'll give it a shot. Thank you-

Bill,Good song. Recording sounds good to my ears. Yeah, alt-country seems like the best fit. Good chorus. You might consider cutting a few things and make it 30-45 secs shorter. Dean

Re: Attempting Country
Hey Bill!I liked this! Solid hook with a very nice story and great melodies... I'll agree with OL that the rhymes were repeated too much for me the first time around. Of course as soon as you hit play and start reading along to the tune, your eyes totally ruin it for your ears! Listening to it more and NOT reading along helped me get over it though. Yeah, this is more of an alt country tune both lyrically and musically -- leave those CW standards to someone else and concentrate what you're awesome at! Though I could see with a few tweaks and new instrumentation it could go for country too... at least in my book.

Re: Attempting Country
hey bill--damn good job,i still hate "replied", and would use "shrugged" or anything simpler, but hell, i'm sure this will get placed before any 'o mine! oh, and the new "slide" seems to me cans to be way off to the left a bit too much, can stand to be a bit more to the center.that's all i got, great job as usual!!warren
