Wedding Rumble

Post by remmet » Sat Nov 15, 2008 4:47 pm

The overnight assignment for a potential movie trailer: Write a piece of music for a wedding scene which turns into a battle between monsters, aliens, and the military, and use "Hear Comes the Bride" as the theme. (Why did this evoke memories of my former marriage? Sorry, just kidding.)www.richardemmet.com/BrideRumble.aifThis is an .aif file, so I hope it doesn't take too long to load.Richard

Hi Richard. This is an impressive piece of writing/recording. I'm not sure what feedback you're looking for exactly. Is this for a listing? I didn't see this one. Your orchestration is wonderful and sounds very realistic to my ears. If I hadn't read that you were using "here comes the bride" I'm not entirely sure I would have got that. On second listen, I think it's because the first note of the tune is obscured by the next note up at the same volume, and because it goes at slow speed and spaced out, it's not instantly recognizable. That's the only critique I can make. Perhaps it could get a little bit louder and more threatening, but that's all I can say. What sounds are you using?Georgie

I jokingly mentioned my former marriage. My ex-wife is named Georgina. This was for a trailer music production company that I joined a couple of years ago as a result of a Taxi forward. The trailer producers called them and requested an appropriate piece of music right away. I sent this in and they liked it and forwarded it to the trailer producers, but I haven't heard anything back yet.I used EWQLSO Platinum XP-Pro for the orchestra. Thanks for your comments, Georgina.Richard

Ha Ha! That must have been a bit of a shock for you, to see "Georgina" had responded!Good luck with this piece - hope to hear some good news. It seems to me that there really is a HUGE difference between EWQL Gold and Platinum, overall. Of course I'm a novice and using Gold, your skills are obviously miles ahead of me, so it might be that. Great orchestration!! I should say that again! Great orchestration!! It took me two listens to recognize "here comes the bride" and would have not noticed it if I hadn't read your post and started listening for it. But it's there. Quite cagey and almost subliminal. Hope you get the gig.Kitz
