Silent Night revised
Well, I made several changes in the orchestration and recorded a live trumpet player as well. (It's amazing how loud a trumpet can be in your living room.)Anyway, I hope it sounds better than the original version.www.richardemmet.com/SilentNight.mp3Richard

Hey Remmet, this is just gorgeous! Your strings sound FAB - are you sure you didn't pull in the whole NY Phil ...? They sound very real to me. What are you using?Well, I will have to try that too - did you just find a trumpet player hanging around on a street corner??? Takes me months to organize to get a live player... Hats off to you! Hope you get a deal with this - it's deserving!Georgie

I called him on Friday and he came over on Saturday afternoon. The first 7 notes of his melody were played on flugelhorn, the last 7 notes on trumpet. I'm realizing that it's a challenge to record a live player in your living room and make it fit with the ambience of the sampled orchestra. I used a long and thick reverb from Reaktor on the trumpet, but I'm not 100% satisfied that the blending is perfect. Maybe a convolution reverb would work better, but I don't have one at this point. The strings (and the rest of the sampled orchestra) are from EWQLSO Platinum XP-Pro.Richard

Re: Silent Night revised
Really wonderful arrangement!!! The only things I could suggest are to put a little vibrato on the flutes and bring out the chime in that section.Beautiful job!!Kitz

Re: Silent Night revised
I revised it once more, this time to help prepare the trumpet entrance and to fix or add a couple of other small details. Maybe I should title this "Endless Night" instead of Silent Night. Same link.Richard

Richard, This was really, really great. My wife heard it and is breaking out all her Christmas music now. Andy
