Gang, what are your thoughts on this tune...production? Suitability for the following listing? Enough dynamic build?It's our own Marc Blackwell on lead guitars...we have more to mixin too, but we want your early thoughts, if you don't mind.Sorry for the brief pause while it downloads to you...thanks as always!http://www.thepondstudio.ca/Sports1.mp3MODERN ROCK/HARD ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are wanted by a very successful Production Music Library who has placements with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, Disney, Discovery, Lifetime, Fox, USA, etc. (to name just a few). It's vital that the tracks have a lot of variation and dynamic shifts, with momentum and build. You'll want to focus on high energy, uptempo tracks with a clear forward movement and compelling dynamics. A current, radio-ready tone is essential for this one! You can submit tracks that range between 1-4 minutes in length and be sure there are NO VOCALS on these tracks. Recording & production needs to be really great and Broadcast quality is necessary - excellent home recordings should be fine. Please submit 1-3 instrumental tracks online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than November 11, 2008.

Damn good stuff here--really not much to complain about. My only nits:1) Second lead guitar lick that enters in first 'verse' steps on the other lick, doesn't really add much in return. 2) Second 'verse': the (mid-field) lead starts out great with the chording, but seems to lose steam and focus, and the octave part doesn't really go anywhere--doesn't sound bad, but the playing intensity is uniform throughout. (love the interplay of the right-field guitar tho)3) The rhythm breakdown doesn't really build, again, energy stays uniformOverall I could use just a teeny bit more backing guitar too; the leads seem a bit out there on their lonesome.However: great energy, nice mix, like the sharp snare-crack.

Hey Devin .... this is awesome, great playing my man.... my only concern is it feels more Rock & Roll too me.... really good Rock&Roll, but not so much Modern/Hard Rock..... but it's a GENRE issue and I suck there so... good luck!!Peace, Geo

It needs to be way more aggressive to hit the Hard rock Genre.

Hey, Devin...this is a great piece! I can't find much wrong with it...I would submit it....I think it's hard rock enough....to me, it's worth a shot. Good luck with it...it's energetic and butt kicking.

Hi Devin,I think it really hit the mark for the sports genre.I agree with the previous comment about losing a little steam in the middle. Perhaps bringing up the drums a shade and doing something other than a descending scale might help.This piece is real close in my opinion.Best of luck.Al

These are all great comments and advice gang, thanks a lot!I've been skimming your words all day, but I'm trying to "shut up and listen" hehehe...(and I almost went a whole 12 hours without doing so...that's gotta be a record!).My rythm guitar track needs to come up, as per wrdsnmuzik's fine points...the rythm is significantly crunchier than the lead. If that doesn't make it hard enough, I'll watch some ultimate fighting before pressing the red button tonight. Geo and Brad, thanks for driving that point home...I hadn't picked up on the difference in what we made to what was asked for. You're right, it's a solid R&R effort currently (dang these roots are hard to stray from!). Thanks also to Al for voting on the middle section...it's nice to meet you! Hey Chits! Great to see you...thanks for your "butt kicking" vote, good thing I'm not wearing my boots right now hehehe. I do like the energy in this one...and somehow instrumentals don't scare me as much as trying to get that perfect lyric.But this one isn't done yet....better get to work
