Re: Vodka and Smoke
Hey Chits... great tune !!! The productions sounds awesome !!! One thing stood out to me though..... not too many bars you can smoke in anymore... least not over here on the east coast.... I don't know if that will hurt it's chances..... I only noticed it because I recently redid an older tune of mine that had the line..."Sitting on the plane, cigarette in hand,"Still you're working with some classic Jazz scenery.... smokey rooms and booze so who knows Good luck with the pitch!!!Peace, Geo

Thanks for the nice words, Buck and Geo...they are appreciated. Yeah, the horns are cool.Geo, I thought about how smoking is not allowed in many bars nowadays, but I took a little poetic license anyway....maybe it will fly, hehe.

Re: Vodka and Smoke
damn good production chits! the horns give it an older retro feel, yeah, kinda the love boat thing, but so well produced and lyrics are very well done--only thing for me is that i'd personally like it slowed down some, to make it more r & b and sultry, to go along a bit better with the lyrics...but that's just me--very nice job all and all!all the best,ps: took a LONG TIME to get on, and to get this streaming--think all the last minute taxi-itess are gettin' their stuff together for the rally...wh

Re: Vodka and Smoke
Thanks for all the comments everybody. This is cool, I'm sitting on a ship in Florida hooked up to the net with one of these AT&T dealies where you can get internet anywhere. Amazing times, these. The singers name is Kevin Strawn, if you've ever played a slot machine built by IGT you were probably hearing Kevin's production work he's a composer/producer for them as well as being a killer drummer and singer.Gotta say thanks to Chits for being so patient with me on this, she started it over a year ago and it's just now getting finished. It's good to hear that the stylistic direction we were going for comes through and it's also good to hear some creative suggestions on how to make it better. They say the secret to success in good songwriting is in the re-write.Hope who ever is going has a great rally!See ya, Elser

Re: Vodka and Smoke
Very nicely done, Chits and Elser. My only question is whether the extended instrumental/guitar break between the first chorus and the 2nd verse is too long, i.e., whether it interrupts the flow of the story. It was an excellent guitar solo, but did it disrupt the balance of the song?Richard

Hey, thanks Warren, Matt, and Richard for all your kind words and thoughts. As you see, Elser has popped in, and I'm sure he's read your suggestions and will ponder them. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to listen to the song. Els, it was worth the wait.

Thanks for those sweet words, girlfriend. We'll let you know how the pitch turned out.And thanks Jwebb....hey, I like the words 'retro'.....I see this a retro pitch too. BTW, I loved Jimmy Webb's writing. He was one of the best songwriters ever.
