Mark this is cool. I hear a little something that sounds like a mandolin(?) . . . on my speaks it sound as if it needs to come up. I think if you added production elements ala The Band (The Night They Drove 'Ol Dixie Down kind of stuff) this could be even better.

Cool vibe on this one Mark!The whole thing sounds a bit mushy to me though -- like it all got a bit too full... I think you'd get more impact with less on this one to really bring out the different lines/instrumentation. Defining those different parts a little more clearly could be really great. One thing might be to trade out one of the acoustics for an electric a little further back in the mix with a little bit of bite... just a thought!

Mark, I love story tunes like this you really got a gift for story telling...Did you check your bass levels with a sub monitor? I'm getting a pretty boomy bass sig that is pretty loud in the mix as well. wta

great story couch! very nice music mark. dig the instruments, mandolin? and the simple simple pound pound of the drums, i really dig it and for some reason always fall for that beat...no comments on the mix, as it's not done, but just ONE comment on the lyric--one line bugs me a bit, from beginning and on second listen, and that is :"or a smoky plane to the north",it just rubs my mental meter gauge wrong for some reason, something isn't right IMHO, but that might again just be me....maybe it's the "to" the north? don't know....just a feel.that's all i got, dig the tune, nice job guys.warren

Thanks guys! Mixed on the fly in about 5 minutes before slapping it online and bolting off to work.There is an accordian way low in the mix, and also some mandolin more prominent, and two acoustics, one standard, one capoed, and a bass.I think the mushiness is from a bad choice of verb coupled with too much compression, maximizing and limiting with different programs. I need to settle down and make a choice. I think Zoom is right in that defining each space will make it pop. If I'm not too tired I'll try a remix tonight, otherwise it'll be a few days.I can't tell you how much I appreciate the comments, and I owe a hell of a lot of them in return. My listening time is very limited, though I have plenty of time to sit and type here at work...ojust can't play audio.THANKS!-Mark
