Looking for some quick feedback for Rally CD

Post by aubreyz » Mon Nov 03, 2008 12:06 pm

This is one of those songs that got left on the back burner. In getting ready for the rally, I came across it, dusted it off with a remix. I got good Taxi reviews for the song itself and vocals, with some production tips that I've now worked on. The question is... is this strong enough to include on my Rally CD. I'm interested more in quality than quantity and am solid on the other songs on the CD, but this one is kind of personal so it's harder to be objective. Thanks for listening!AubIf You Could Feel My PainVs1I see in your eyesYou want to love meI feel in your touchYou want to save me from myselfYou believe you’re meant to beThe Messiah for my needsBut there's not a lot of me worth savingChorusIf you could feel my painWould you look at me the sameIf you could hear my tortured thoughtsWould you have to turn away‘Cause I'm a freak show of a manAnd you would know how weak I amIf you could feel my painVs2Stop asking me whyI am so quietI'm screaming insideThere are no right words to explainMy Daddy taught me howTo take it like a manIf it doesn't show you don't have to say itChorusIf you could feel my painWould you look at me the sameIf you could hear my tortured thoughtsWould you have to turn away‘Cause I'm a freak show of a manAnd you would know how weak I amIf you could feel my painBridgeSuperman is who I wanted to beBut the Riddler and the Joker disagreed They poured me a glass of kryptonite I drank it all to prove that they were rightChorusIf you could feel my painWould you look at me the sameIf you could hear my tortured thoughtsWould you have to turn away‘Cause I'm a freak show of a manAnd you would know how weak I amIf you could feel my painIf you could feel my painRepeat Chorus

I like the song, but I'm not forwarded in this genre, so my humble $0.02 would be:Include it because:- is different from your other tunes- it's free- you can point people to it if it's on there- my guess is they won't disqualify you for it after listening to the whole CDExclude it because:- song #1 (maybe #2) on the CD is the most important anyway- you have other songs further along just like it already- you intend to move solidly away from this style, and you need to project "100% - (something else)"There. Now we're both confused. Sorry! Of course, listen to everyone else here if they disagree...I just wanted to put these thoughts out there because I know the time is short.HTH!

Hey Aub, I think this is a strong song but it's not easy to quickly stuff it into a genre. I don't know if that's important to you . . . if not I would say include it. It's also pretty strong production wise, if you thought it showed off your production skills in a different way than your other songs . . . well, there's another reason. Seems like Devin and I are causing more confusion . . .!

Limited opportunities, but there will be some. I have another for instrumentals and placements and will have some Gypsy Van CDs too. To give you an idea of the tone of the CD, the other songs are:Hate Me Save MeDrowningSkin (remixing tonight)And then Pain if I decide to include it.This CD will be subtly labeled:

i love songs with guts man,and this has guts, i haven't been too familiar with your music, but dig this tune allot. see you at the rally i guess!oh, i think that the backing is just a bit garbeled to my ears tonight...too much reverb? don't know...you know what you're doing, so might just be my ears..all the best, dig the tune...warren

Hi Aub,I like the song a lot, but agree with Warren that the backing sounded a bit funny on first listen. Admittedly my headphones are a bit too heavy on the bass emphasis, but at the beginning I thought I'd managed to get two versions of the mp3 playing at once, but on second listen I think it was just bass and kick frequencies mixing, most prominent on the chorus.Very nice song though, and the more I listen the more I like it. Your vocals work perfectly for it.Cam
