"Hush Little Baby" repost with changes
Hi guys, I've taken some of your ideas and advise and here is a new version. Do the violins sound better? I changed the articulation of the longer notes, but I have had trouble panning both articulations so they are coming from the same place. It's better than it was, but I'm interested to know if you can hear it. Thanks for your thoughts, Georgiehttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=180915&stream=trueIf my orchestration isn't any better, at least I've mastered the art of putting a link on the forum (I shouldn't speak too soon! )

Personally I think that having the violins carry the melody is the hardest thing to pull off so you're doing pretty good. Having said that, I think you need to add an articulation or two, short articulations or maybe legato for the "little baby" notes which are kind of quick notes compared to the notes for "hush" and "don't say a word". For the short notes, the articulation you're using takes "too long to get there" for each of those short notes if that makes any sense. Those short notes should come right away not slowly. I like the overall presentation and orchestration choices. Semi-on-topic, we're "dog sitting" a little pug named Noel and I did a short lullaby video featuring said dog...www.davewaltonmusic.com/noel/noel02.movDidn't mean to hijack the thread but I couldn't resist the opportunity.

Hi guys - thanks for your thoughts. Dave, I have used two different articulations for the strings, and there is an oboe doubling too, but you don't hear it much. I feel I really want the strings to carry the tune. I will try out more articulations - I find the process very frustrating and time-consuming - ha!Anyway, thanks for listening. Jay, thank you for your comments, I'm glad you like it!Georgie

Gina, I know nothing of articulations, but to me it sounds beautiful and I like your arrangement a lot!
