Jazz listing
Just wondering if you guys think this tune is right for the listing. It's called 'Lonely Eyes' and the links and stuff are below. Thanks for any input, ElserORIGINAL JAZZ/BIG BAND/SWING SONGS WITH VOCALS that sound like they'refrom the 30s or 40s are needed by a Music Publisher with tons of Film/TVplacements. This company has fantastic relationships with musicsupervisors for TV shows/films on ABC, NBC, the CW, HBO, Disney, MGM,Sony, Fox, Paramount plus many others, and has already signed a dozen TAXIwriters. You can think along the lines of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday,Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Tommy Dorsey, etc. The performances willneed to be excellent and the sounds authentic to the requested erareference. Recordings must be Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordingsshould be just fine). Please be sure that the lyrics and vocals are alsocompletely in the style/era that is requested - nothing that sounds toocontemporary. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Allsubmissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received byNovember 10, 2008.TAXI # S081110JZhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=1775 ... am=trueThe lyics are here Lonely Eyes are callingLonely Eyes I’m listeningShall we ever meet againLonely hearts are driftingNow the waves are poundingAnd we’ll never be the sameThe roaring sea, the raging flood, may drown meSo leave me dear before we find, our hearts are breakingLonely Eyes are temptingBut tomorrow I’m away Lonely Eyes don’t crowd meLonely Eyes I’m leavingAnd we’ll never meet again

Re: Jazz listing
Elser ... that is VERY cool. I think it's spot on. The 'megaphone vocal' certainly places in the 30s .. but what I ~don't~ know is: does that match the very natural (live and close) warm feel of the rest of the instrumentation? Do you have a track of the vocal w/o the FX that you could also submit? But let me ask the crowd here .. is submitted a couple of versions of the same tune a common practice?

Re: Jazz listing
Hey Elser... very cool piece!Though, this is more 20's than 40's, and doesn't really fit the artists listed... so I think it may be a bit of a crap shoot. Also, you may want to submit a "clean" version (if you submit, and if you have it) without the record noise as it plays. If they want it for film/tv, they'll be able to add that in themselves.Best of luck with it!

Re: Jazz listing
Thanks for the encouragement guys. I don't have the original tracks anymore, it was done quite awhile ago so it's being 'sold as is'. I was also wondering if anyone would catch the period issue which is my main concern. I think it is more 20s-30s than 30-40s but I think I'll take a chance and submit it anyways. I'm guessing submissions for a listing like this might be a little on the short side so I might have a chance. Thanks again, Elser
