New To Taxi Looking For Feedback Please.

Post by damagebyfriction » Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:44 am

Hi, Just checking out the forums, I really like how everyone comes together and gives feedback on music at others requests. Nice community. So I thought I would give it a try. If someone has some extra time, please check my music out and my question for you is, do you think this would be suited for tv/film and especially video games which is where I will be sending this stuff. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.Oh and also I read a lot about the artist bio. Do you think mine is ok or should I add or take away some???ThanksSandiDBFwww.taxi.com/damage-by-friction

Hi Sandi It's a slow night to night. Wecome to the forum. It's very nice to meet you. They call me mild Bill around here. I went and had a listen to your music and I think your music will do well in the video games and in the tv/film. As far as your bio goes I believe in this type of setting its fine. Take care mild Bill

Hello Sandi and Welcome! I am not really an expert by any stretch in the electronica genre. That said, I can definitely hear your music working well in both video games and tv/film. I think you will definitely have some success here. For me personally I would have liked to have heard a little more development musically. But that kind of thinking many times gets me into trouble as I tend to over complicate things which does not always lend itself well to working in a film/ tv spot. Of the tracks you had posted I liked Incase and Solar Remix best. I did not listen to Solar figuring it was the same as the Solar Remix. In terms of your bio, I thought it was good just the way it is. Talks about what you do and what you have accomplished in a brief and effective manner. Best of Luck to you and once again, welcome to the forums.Kurt

hey there...I never put much into my bio (maybe I should go back to it), but yours is great for the Taxi page IMHO....Great tunes...I think you'll find some listings...some listings maybe looking for more melody overall, but not all of them....yes video game listings do seem that they would fit your music....good luck, vtbp

Sandi,I admit to not having a clue as to what the video market wants, but it sounds the part to me. I'm not so sure whether your material is right for film/TV though. My vote would be "no", but hopefully someone more experienced like Vikki Flawith will chime in with an opinion.I mostly just wanted to say "welcome" and wish you the best of success with your music.Cameron

Hey Sandi - nice to meet you!!! I'm reluctant to give feedback without a specific listing to use as a framework, but I listened to Chainmail... and my feeling is that the sounds might be a little outdated, maybe they could work for video games but I'm not an expert at that. I think the video games market is changing and they are seeking more contemporary a la film score type compositions to support the video. My best suggestion to you would be to pick out a listing and post the text in Peer to Peer with a link to the piece of music you are thinking of submitting. We can help you assess whether you're on target for the listing.Your bio is fine if it's just for the general public to read (altho I don't know what 'Damage by Friction' is), but if you intend to submit it with listings I think it needs a rewrite. If you came to the Rally, and sat down with a Mentor or happened to meet a music publisher in the elevator, what would your 30-second pitch be? cheersH

Hi Sandi, I'd like to welcome you here to Taxi, as well. You'll find the people here very helpful and courteous. I listened to your music and there are some cool electronic sounds.I don't know much about what the video game industry is looking for, but I feel it couldn't hurt to use more progressions in your music. The electro-sounds you use are tone based in that I definitely get a sense of the tonic. From there, if nothing else, go to the four chord and back again to the tonic.Beyond that, use a 1,4,5 or a 6,7,8 (one of my favorites)The song Incase did this for the most part and was the most interesting of the bunch IMHO.Good luck with your work, you should do well with submissions.Wig
