Mr. Tuesday revisited with vocals
Hi,As you may remember Janet ( Chits) and I were working on a collab called Mr. Tuesday. At the time we decided to do it as an instrumental only. then we decided to go ahead with the vocal version, even though we realized that the lyrics were a bit eclectic ( sp). So we just finished it, Madeline Sales ( from Charlottesville ) did the vocals. As always we appreciate all comments from the forum members- it's like having your own private focus group. Thanks for listening we hope you like it.Mr. Tuesdayhttp://www.reddproductions.net/reynovia/mrtuesdayrev3.mp3Bob ( and Janet too!)

Cool song, I like it. I like the vocals too. To me one thing that could make this better is a little more realism with the bass/drums. Even if you left the drums getting someone to come in and play an upright bass would really kick this up a notch & help add to the "smokey- jazzy" vibe. Cool track.

Re: Mr. Tuesday revisited with vocals
Bob and Janet I like this track very much. I think Jay had it right when he mentioned the Sade style. Very nice vocals and I really enjoyed the flute and sax lines. My only suggestions would be to get rid of the intro or change it somehow. I did not think it really fit. I also agreed with Billlg about the bass/drums but to my ear the drums were a little too electronic sounding and I thought the bass could work as it is. I think the mix could also be improved by bringing up some of the other parts (mainly keys and strings) a little more. These are just my opinions. I still you think you have a very nice track here and I really liked it very much.Best of Luck.Kurt

Re: Mr. Tuesday revisited with vocals
I'm typing as I'm listening to capture first impressions. The only suggestion is on the end of the b section ending with "Mr. Tuesday its time to let go" and she goes back to the A section with "Mr. Tuesday" There is a good little piano / drum build in between. The tone of the vocals are the same from the last line to the first line described above. This sections was "confusing" to me as a listener - a little disjointed because it isn't clear if this is a build to a new section as the instrumental would indicate, and then it turns out to be a return to a previous section, but the vocals seem like its a continuation of the same section. I'm talking about subtle dynamics here that give the listener a clue as to whats coming up next in the song, not the recording quality or anything. If the dynamics of her vocal were such that it "marks" the return to the A section a little more, or if it built to a "bigger" return to the A section the same way the instrumental does, it'd be a much easier progression for the listener to follow. I don't know if that came out clearly so please don't hesitate to help me make it more clear by asking. This is a great tune by an obviously talented ensemble. It may be the style, but the point I mentioned above made me keep having to restart the tune to figure out where it was going, and that shouldn't happen IMHO. Good stuff!!

Hey, thanks, Bill, Liam, Jay, Kurt and Anne for taking the time to give your thoughts....they were all very helpful. I've really enjoyed writing this tune with Bob...it's been lots of fun. I'm sure Bob will weigh your input about how to make some adjustments if need be. Thanks once again!

Re: Mr. Tuesday revisited with vocals
Hi Kids,I love the feel of the song. Excellent production and very good vocals. I'm listening as I write and it seems the melody in the "Mr. Tuesday" part of the song is a recurring theme. I think it's maybe a bit too much repeating the theme for my tastes, but that's really the only thing negative I have to say. Overall it's very nice.Cameron

Excellent guys!!! great choicer of instruments. The movements are great the soloing of the sax and flute (it sounds like) come in at the right time. Like the smooth jazz feeling has a kind of whole tone scale air about it. REALLY GOOD!!

Re: Mr. Tuesday revisited with vocals
Very, very nice you guys... Madeline did a really nice job. I might "soften" the vocal into the mix more. I don't know if that makes sense as I describe it. The vocal is sung very well but it stands out from the BG a bit, taking away from the total soft jazz sound... Maybe lean slightly Sade.I also suggest an instrumental break... It would be a nice break in tension, making the listener want more vocal again. There might be "too much" vocal here.Very cool collab! Casey
