Same Shirt Different Day (added Taxi critique)
Hi gang,Just finished this tune tonight. It's meant to be country hence the backhoe references. My ears are fried right now and I suppose tomorrow I'll hear things that need fixing, but any opinions are much appreciated. As usual, keep in mind that I'm a songwriter (arguably) and not a singer. Mostly interested in what the song needs and whether it warrants a pro demo. If so, could I use this home recording with some tweaks and real vocals?Thanks!Camhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=1708 ... m=trueSame Shirt Different DayEvery morning after I get upI make my coffee and I pour a cupI walk the dog and I feed the catand I start out every day like thatHead for the kitchen right at half past sixto eat my Pop Tart and my bowl of Trixthen I put on on my boots and my company shirtand make the 20 minute drive to workSame shirt, different dayone of these times I'm going to run awayI'm gonna head to the Florida Keys to staysame shirt, different dayScrape the ice off the ChevroletLooks like the traffic's pretty bad todayand the tire on my backhoe is going flatseems I start out everyday like thatI can work up a sweat in my polo shirtbut I look real nice while I shovel dirtI keep her clean, she's easy careand every minute of the day she's thereSame shirt, different dayI'd like to pack it up and go awayto spend all of my time on some island baysame shirt, different dayAnd damn I look goodBut it's sure gettin' oldEveryday just deeper in the hole Same shirt, different daytoo much work and too little pay still I fire up my backhoe and dig awaysame shirt, different day

Same shirt, huh? Good lyric, Cam and very catchy chorus Enjoyed this! Was a bit confused by the 'I can work up a sweat in my polo shirt' line. But it's a small thing and I'm no great lyric analyser.Whether to get it demo'd? Well, I'm no country expert but I say go for it if it's within your means. I'm not so sure about using your guitar tracking on a pro demo. 2c.Liam

CAM....I enjoy your voice very much .... Love the song and lyrics....Good hook and chorus.. I don't know about the production...Seems good but maybe could have a little slide guitar to warm it up more..Other than that ....good work....JMO.....Jay....

Paul, Thanks for the listen. Glad you like it.Liam, thanks. Yeah I wondered about the polo shirt reference sounding too "preppie". I was thinking of those company shirts with the logos on them. I'll probably change that to something else if I do a pro demo.Tom and R-man - Thanks ya'll. I like the idea of a slide guitar R-man.Cameron

Re: Same Shirt Different Day
hi cam!i agree, good chorus, before i new what was goin' on i heard a island/buffet thing going on, and then well yah, of course. very good title man. very simple tune that does have a message for many folks out there--another sales point IMHO.i think with some very minor lyric tightening (some "extra" words IMHO and a few that could be polished to make it more c/w) this has a good shot man. i dig it!in the bridge "damn i look good" would be a great place IMHO to throw in some of the kettle drums in the background, and i agree i'd add a slide and/or more synth you used in the intro, to help it build and give it a bit more of a layer. i know you'll demo this, and those are some of the things i'd tell them to do....all the best,wh

Cam,Like the story lineSimple and catchy in the chords you useIf you are thinking of using your recording for the demo:Needs a bass presencePan the backup vocals to both R & LLike stated before in a reply could use a slide guitar or leadSome cymbals ......drumming sounds to programmedGood luck...I liked itRegards,Dick

I wish I could hear this, but I can never listen to stuff on Taxi's page. Dang! But I like the lyrics...great imagery. I agree with the "polo" shirt line...I was picturing the expensive horse-logoed shirt, but you can swap that out with something else, easy. If you post it anywhere else, let me know...I'd really like to hear it. Erin
