I put this together and don't know what to do with it.I would appreciate any feedback i.e. types of submissions I could tweak it for (add instruments, change length, throw it out, could be used for ....)I know that is a wide open and general request, but this is what almost always happens - I write something and then don't know what the hell to do with it and throw it out. I'm a little embarassed by this fact as I come up with tons of "bits " of songs, but get stumped when I try to do more with them. Yes well the title says it all. I dont know why but a western movie comes to mind while listening to this song. A bunch of guys walking into a bar full of depressed individuals. I really enjoyed this song, right on the mark. Nothing negative to say.Thanks for sharing.

Yup, western vibe . . . bad guys riding into town. I think you ought to see what it sounds like without the percussion.

I also loved the vibrato. You dont hear enough of it these days.Overall chord usage was nice. It really brings out some imagery. I see a smoky bar in a new york city cop show.The lead was a little lackluster. I think graduating up the minor scale more would really add some emotion. Use some string bends and go up to 3rds and 5ths then bring it back down at the end of each passage. Think Clapton. Or something off Pink FLoyd's "Animals" album.Nice tune great feel.M~

Thanks guys. I worked on it some more yesterday and this morning. A friend came by and "heard" some really tweaked lyrics when listening to it, and is going to add those in just for fun. If I make any progress with it, I'll post later today.Yes the lead is lackluster - you can hear pretty well at around 1:30 min. that I didn't really have a plan for it. That will change and I appreciate the suggestions.

Hi Anne,I agree with the western feel..... listening I really wanted to hear the metallic sound of a Fender rhodes taking a ride. ( or a listful or aching soprano sax.)Can't wait to hear more!Bob

Hey Anne!Cool piece.... like it a lot. I would agree that the percussion probably isn't needed, as it's pretty simple and for the most part the vibrato keeps time for you.For the leads, I would probably bury them a bit but pour on the reverb and play with the EQ a bit... not necessarily in that order. I think that could give it some separation without calling too much attention to them if you're going for a minimalist approach.Might also be nice to hear a hard panned acoustic doubling the chords for dramatic effect at some point, but really isn't NEEDED, as this is a pretty cool piece without it!
