Get There with real drums this time
I submitted this in Contemporary Christian and was not forwarded. It got a 7 out of 10. The reviewer said the drums were crap. They were fake, now they are real via. Ian Sproul of Oz.Do you think this is worth submitting in pop?http://www.songramp.com/mod/mps/viewpri ... ckid=53514

Hey Wig.... IMO I wouldn't submit this song for anything but a more traditional country or folk listing.Pop listings are really high bar, and you would need to rework the song completely to fit the genre -- you shouldn't submit anything where producers would need to listen creatively, they just don't have the time for it. Actually, I would say all listings that say "contemporary" have a higher bar than others, and really need to have a modern feel. But this is a really good folk song a la Gordon Lightfoot with solid production.HTH! Nice piece

Re: Get There with real drums this time
hey there,I like this song...Drums have always been my trouble spot...or one of the main ones.....There are problems with the drum mix and drum sounds....If you can go in and fix these it would be better for the song....The vibe isn't right for the pop listings, but I think you'll be able to find something for this song....I like the vocals....keep looking for listings...you'll find one that's right...It has an Irish tinge to it, too....keep a look out for listings that might want this sound...hope this helps a little, vtbp

Re: Get There with real drums this time
DAMN WIGS--i reviewed this on broadjam if i'm right--and dug it! didn't i?? sorry if i'm wrong BTW--now i can't remember what i said, other than it reminded me of a band i couldn't remember--but i do now, It's a Beautiful Day! i remember struggling to ID the sound, and i really really dig it. the "get there" is a very good hook, i might have said it was very well done, but maybe it needed a bit more lyric development, maybe a bit more concrete so we all can identify a bit more. now don't hold me to my other critique--it was one of 10 that night--enough said...but i'ts a beautiful day for sure, and since nobody will recognize that NOWADAYS, this has a shot man! i'd just work on the verse lyrics just a little more, make them OURS more...damn i wish i had that late night critique with me.still a damned good tune my man!!the best, warren

Hey Wig,I remember this from before but don't remember noticing that the drums were bad back then. Anyway, I agree with Vicky that this has an Irish tinge to it and with the others who said that this probably has little chance as a pop tune, even though it's nice at what it is (Irish or country folk perhaps?)Cam

Re: Get There with real drums this time
Thanks very much to everyone for your replies to this song. I struggle to place my songs in the right listings. I will try to submit this song as folk or alt rock or easy listening when I see an appropriate listing.I will rethink the verses also as suggested. Perhaps it is too personal because it came about in a dream a couple months ago.Really the hook is the only thing from the dream. I just assumed it should be about a spiritual awakening, but Ian, the drummer, pointed out that he thought it was about pushing anything up hill. Thanks again, Wig

I know that they've helped me out several times to clarify in times of confusion. It's always about the listing, it seems!
