Mark I'm with Maceman. I did everything short of worship the fab 4. You know those old pictures of people standing in line at the record stores to be the first to buy their new album release I was one of those people. This is the 1st time I have ever even heard anyone attempt to do Bulldog. Wow great job my friend. Loved the end also. mild BillPS how is Midnight Skater doing?

Thanks for all the nice comments! I wanted to do this so I could learn something production-wise. "Better Believe" continues to drive me nuts because I can't get it to sound the way I want. I thought I might benefit by doing something with a reference point, so I can listen side by side to the production of Emerick and Martin and the Beatles and see what elements make certain sounds.It's not just treble and bass and instruments...its all those choices regarding compression and effects and reverb and levels. I once recorded a version of this on 4 track tape back in the late 80's, so I already knew how to play the parts, but it's the finished sound I'm trying to nail.On the other hand, imitation is fine and well...I can copy a good drawing too if given enough time...it's having to make those same good decisions from scratch with my own stuff that throws me off the horse...Here's a treat for all you Bulldog fans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGrEZH7j1bQ

MARK....U don't post much, but when U do.... Greatness comes out.... What a job U did on this piece.....Just blew me away...Every thing sounds perfect for this song....The vocals sound like there sung threw tc eletronic voice doubler....What ever U did it really sounds great...Good job.....Jay.... .Got a listen again....

Paul, we're ALL talented here, including yourself! And thanks Jay...no electronic voice doubler, just the old school sing it twice technique. If you lay those tracks down back to back, you pretty much remember how you just sang it, so it's easy to match. There's a touch of short slap-back style delay on both the vocals. Gracias! -mk

Good stuff Mark -- and I prefer the natural voice doubler over the electric version anyday, but especially on this remake!Great playing, solid reproduction. I know one of the things that's had you stuck once or twice anyway was getting that perfect drum sound. It's gotten much better -- though if I were to get super nit-picky here, the drums would be the only thing I could pick on! And it's not that it needs massive amounts of work, it's all very small things to my ear, like that the cymbals seem a little splashy and maybe a tad over compressed... but that could be the instrument, so I may be way off base. But I love all the other sounds and how they blend together nicely.Now the trick is to take this remake, and remake it as a different genre... that's how you really will get to know your production elements now that you have an excellent base line to work from! Or, you can feel free to sit back and smile from a job well done as you flip me the bird for that last suggestion. LOL!
