Heinsey: I'm like you, my appreciation towards alot of the older music is even greater now than it was back then. So doin' this was REAL easy for me. I hope it's not too close either. We'll see. BTW, I got rid of the vinyl scatch. I liked it 'cause of it's old school sound and all, but the client may not dig it, so I eliminated it. Thanks for your input! Much appreciated!Anne: Thanks! Glad ya' like it! Paul: Thanks Paul! We'll give it a go, and see what happens!BillG: Yeah Bill, I wonder how close they expect us ta' get too. I don't know of anyone who's ever mentioned that they were rejected because they were "TOO CLOSE" to the original. But it wouldn't surprise me if that kind of thing happens. If this gets the big [R], then I'll hafta' assume that that's the reason why, as this is a YES/NO BASIS ONLY listing. Thanks for your input, and I did away with the vinyl scratch.Geoff: Thanks man! Got my fingers crossed! Thanks for the comments everyone! I really appreciate everyone's incredible insight into these kinds of things. Sometimes what sounds good to one, may not always sound good to another. Thanks for remindin' me of that! Wish me luck! Peace!!I-468

Mix not quite there yet, jes' needs some vintage compressor glue and some level and maybe pan adjustments. I love the horns and you absolutely nailed the "disco" strings; it's possible that this is a little too 'on the nose', but without knowing the track's intended purpose, what else can one do but aim it square at the a la?Two areas of concern, the intro vamp does seem a mite long, maybe add some flute fills halfway to where the piano comes in for interest. (the surface noise at the beginning goes on a little too long as well, I'd fade it out after the song starts, too) Second thing, I think the wah guitar's a little too distorted; Telecaster>Morley>MXR Phase90>Fender Twin would be period correct, but a Strat or 335 could do well also, as long as you got the Morley wah. ("shaft" setting on Snarling Dogs' Whine-o-Wah works, too) Think I hear an organ patch in there that could be better chosen, too; this particular brand of funk would have a slow Leslie doing swells under the horns rather than the fast vibrato B3. I'm pretty familiar with the tune, I played it in high school jazz band. Great work, Ibe!PS: check out the soundtracks to "Superbad" and "Jackie Brown", those movies seem to have struck a chord with the advertising industry.
