The link worked for me. I like the build. I am not a great judge of new age music. This piece takes some patient to listen to since it builds so slowly. I like it. The sound combinations are effective and pretty. The percussion is well done.Tom

Hey Tom,Many thanks for you're input. Yeah I definitely know it builds slowly, sometimes listening to it I was like "come on, come on". but then I figured, heck for meditation, I'm sure it's supposed to be calm and slow... it's my first ever attempt at this style, so I might be WAAAAAY off the mark.Once again, thank you for taking the time to listen.Take CareB

Hi there;I think that "space" is the secret to meditation and New Age music. I like the song's languid beginning, and then how the drums come in, although I would suggest making them a bit lower in the mix.The use of sound effects I very effective in this as well. The overall vibe reminds me a bit of Kitaro (if memory serves). This kind of song would work well in yoga studios, massage therapy offices, etc.Nice job!Suz

what up B!hehe "come on come on"....if you feel that way then you just need to get used to the flow medication/ambientesp after really pounding things out for taxi....one of my problems i guess..often my songs tended to be longgggwinded!(amazing how one of my 9min pieces was forwarded..thatwas a happy day)i like the grove in this..the drums kind of tell me the same thingevery bar..how about adding fills and modifercations;)and bring them back into the mix...B..i think..this could be great material for something sexy/nightscapeo-ish...like Enigma's 1st single...you know "sa dim moi, sa dom moi, or something to that effect"if you had very breathy female vox added to this... to give itthat erotic/sex groove...i bet a listing would come its way moresoon than later....parts of the sax in the right channel are cool, some parts soundmidi though...you have a great start..with just a few more additions and changes in volume would turn this into another dream~peaceg

I like this. It's very "hypnotic" to me which should work well for a meditation listing. I'm with Suz that the percussion might be a little on the loud side. I think in a situation like this it would be better to err on the low side. Cool track -

Hey man,A good start on this. Here's my take on it (I did a ton of meditation music back in the 80s and 90s): There's a difference between meditation music and other types of new age music. Your piece is, IMO, not necessarily going to be good for meditation, at least for the sitting with your legs crossed type of meditation.Part of the attraction to meditation-type music in the first place was it's lack of any regularity of harmonic rhythm or any overtly stated rhythmic patterns. If there was a rhythmic scheme, it was typically very very slow and took a long time to evolve. The idea was to de-couple from the incessant rhythms of everyday life and float freely. Your harmonic scheme and rhythmic scheme (and your melodies, to a certain degree) are very very regular which, IMO, is more trance inducing than meditative. This isn't a better/worse scenario, I'm just trying to clarify my views on the differences I perceive in the different styles.I would recommend a "remix" meditation version of this with no drums whatsoever and the chords changing at least twice as slowly as they do now. Also weave in and out of the mix very long pads of different sonic flavors. One way to do this is to play a number of tracks of pads and then do the orchestration as part of the mix. All the pads are playing all the time but you fade them in and out in different combinations and they are never all in at the same time. I liken this approach to sculpting with sound and improvising with the mixing board as your instrument (or whatever you use to mix with). Someone who does this as their composition method is Steve Roach, who is one of the godfathers and gurus of space/meditation music. You should check him out, he is pretty deep.Sorry for the rant but I think you need to decide what you want to do with this. I think, as Geoff mentioned, this is more in the Enigma camp than in the meditation arena, but you could take it either way. The key to making this piece meditation music is to slow yourself down and try to drop the need to put a beat on it. Really get yourself in to the meditative state and see where that takes you.Have fun!!Mazz

Hey Mazz,I get what your saying... I never knew the difference as I used to meditate to Enigma and Vangelis' - 1492 album I will work on a slower version.Thank you soooo much for your detailed reply, it's very generous of you to offer the knowledge.Take CareB
