I'm not sure about the timing of the guitar riff at around 18 sec. Can anybody tell me what they think of that section?I'm all "listened out" for the day from mixing. Thanks! No link in your post - I'm assuming it's the "Koth" song on your hosting page?Wow, it's fabulous!! I can't really make out a guitar riff at 0:18, at least not on my laptop speakers. So it sounds fine to me.That first phrase of sax melody you've got there - I kind of wish it followed through with more of that. Ooooohhh, NOW it makes sense! I can definitely hear a difference. The melody does come through much better now. I think the guitar at 0:18 is a nice counter to the sax.My only comment would be that maracas shake at the very end - it seems to cut off. Ending it a hair sooner with a touch of reverb would give it finality, IMO.The nice thing about a track like this is that even if it gets passed over for this listing (which I can't see why it would), it's got a lot of potential for other projects. You could develop this into a full-length track, it's so listenable. Great job!Kathleen

Anne,Very kitschy and cool! Lots of good ideas in there, the sounds are good. My ear had a bit of a tough time tracking the melody through the piece. I think you are trading riffs between the sax, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and maybe even a mandolin and some marimba too? Some of those instruments are also performing supporting roles as well and I think what's confusing me is I can't easily distinguish the difference between their lead and supporting roles. I think it's just a mix thing. If the guitar is playing rhythm, change it's tone a bit to darken it and move it off to the side and then when it's turn comes to continue the melody, brighten it and move it to the center. When you're moving the melody through that many timbres in that short of a time, you need to really give each instrument the same upfront-ness as it speaks the melody and then put it away so it's obviously finished with it's little statement as the next guy says his lines. Imagine each player stepping to the mic and then moving away.Good stuff, just clarify the melody and you've got it!!Mazz
