A Little Thing

Post by teashea » Sun Aug 31, 2008 5:39 am

He is a song that Bill Creel and I co-wrote. Bill recorded it at his 10 Acre Recording Studio. Bill does the vocals and all instruments. As always, I certainly would appreciate comments. I always find the feedback here to be useful and informative. Thanks for taking the time to listen.Tomhttp://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo. ... 850247Just a Little Thingc/ Bill Creel and Thomas SheaAn argument like kids in school.A few harsh words; a tear or two.He didn’t think It was more than a little thing. What a man might miss, a woman can feel. For her it might be something real. She believed it was more than a little thing.Three packed bags; a baby on board. She took off in that old blue Ford.He was sure she’d soon be back.Time can repair some serious moodsBut this time he misunderstood. This was not just a little thing. Now that baby is a little girl. She is missing from his world. It was a very serious thing. All the regrets he can findFill up his lonely mindWith thoughts of a little thing.Instrumental Break Firelight is fading low.He thinks of years agoWith a pain the heartaches bring.Sweetness of a gentle kissTwo smiles he will always missRemind him of that little thing.Yes they remind of that little thing.

Hey Tom...Not a bad recording, and if you're pitching the song, this might be all you need (though I might drop the instrumental break)! However, if you're pitching for tv/film placements, there may be some things to change and clean up a little. The drums aren't great yet.... they're ok, but I think some fine tuning is needed. Also, while the vocal isn't bad, I'm not sure that it's the best key for him... plus, I would love to hear this with a booming bass voice a la Johnny Cash... this would be PERFECT for someone like that.Hope that helps!

TOM....I 'm no expert in country music so I will just give u my opinion of what I here...I listened twice and thought good song... Seems The tempo could be just be a tinch faster...felt like it almost was dragging....But it might be just the drums....They could be better like the Zoom said ...And it does sound like the key was to low for the singer untill the second verse and it seemed ok....And the last thing ...And Oh Ya! ..I heard this clinker at 1:45 on the guitar.. at a fill ....Maybe I'm nuts ,but when I played it the second time i't was there again....Remember ....I'm no expert just my opinion....jay.......

Tom,The message this song brings is pretty dynamic. I appreciate what it shares. In some places, I think the words don't flow as smoothly as they could. Maybe a few slight changes of the words themselves, or perhaps just the timing of how they're sung.I love the feel of your songs!!

Hi Tom,Nice song... shades of Ricky Nelson's "Dream Lover". I like the sentiments of the song too, but it's got a bit of the same problem as the last song... no chorus! Well actually, there's a bit of a chorus here, but really it's just a line on the end of the verses. I've done the same thing with a few of my songs so don't feel bad (including one I'm working on right now that I'm trying like hell to fix).I'm also concerned that "A Little Thing" might not be a big enough lyrical hook. It's pretty much mandatory to have a huge hook if you want any success with a song these days. I don't have any problem with the key being wrong for the singer. I think he does fine with it.Cameron
