Haunting...

Post by nils » Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:36 pm

Hi,I made some atmospheric stuff for the following listing: "HAUNTING MUSIC IN ANY GENRE/STYLE -- similar to the soundtrack for the film "Mulholland Drive […]"Do you think this is haunting? Or is it too melancholic? Or is "haunting" also a little bit melancholic? hmmm...Anyway, I also appreciate your general thoughts.http://www.nilsbergholz.de/music/Dark%2 ... ng.mp3Nils

Hi...I think you're on the right track with these tunes...I listened to the soundtrack for the film "Mulholland Drive, before I decided to not go for this listing.I think you may a little more counterpoint in the first one....the parallel motion needs a little something....the other two sound good....just my 2 cents since I haven't seen very many listings for this...also probably why you're not getting replies...vtbp

Wow Nils,I listened to more of your material to gain some insight into your music after I played these present tracks several times through. I do not know if I am unique, but these songs really satisfy me on a deep level. Thank you for posting them. I am even more impressed when I compare them to the style of songs you posted a couple of months ago. As a whole, I'd say you have quite a bit of material that fits the mood of the soundtrack for the film "Mulholland Drive". Since you asked for general comments, I'll jump in and suggest that these songs would be much more effective if they sounded more like a real orchestra. We hear this advice in this forum quite often: we are all competing against musicians who are using high quality music software in their productions. I believe these songs could come alive in the heart of the listener if the whole production sounded more realistic. In their present form the songs sound very mysterious and detached. I like them this way, but I think your market potential would be greater using the realistic approach.I hope this helps. I'll be looking for the chance to hear more of your material. Meanwhile, good luck on these songs!-AllenJun 27, 2008, 3:36pm, nils wrote:Hi,I made some atmospheric stuff for the following listing: "HAUNTING MUSIC IN ANY GENRE/STYLE -- similar to the soundtrack for the film "Mulholland Drive […]"Do you think this is haunting? @vtbp: thank you for your opinion!@Allen: Thank you very much, I feel honoured. Yes, I will continue writing songs.Regarding the sound of the "orchestral pieces" I have to say, that it was my full intention to use these unrealistic pad-sounds, because the composer of the lynch movies used them too! So, the listener should not consider the sound as a try to sound like a real orchestra but rather just as a....synth pad...

It's great to learn that you are good at shaping your sound. I liked the songs as-is and I would be interested to hear the realistic versions too, but it all takes so much time.....-Allen
