The mastering treatments are very good. They add punch and space and character. The song really grooves. I liked the original a lot but I have to say that I much prefer the mastered version. Good job. You two should hook up and master the original instead of the stream.

Re: Seeking your feedback on three songs please
Hi Mcanty. I like the popular sound of Living For Me, very appealing. Just as a warning I am going to offer some feedback here, I hope it's well taken. I don't know how much leway I have here to offer suggestions but I guess I'll beg for forgiveness later I think the intro could be a bit longer, but no biggy. I think the "can't please everybody" part at the beginning could be just one can't please everybody with a different second line. It sounds good the second time around I must admit, however it gives the impression that this is a beer mug swinging song when sung twice in a row. I would love to hear more of the lead voice, it's awesome, and maybe less of the vocal doubling. If things were spread out a bit more as far as everything going on in the first half of the song that would be tremendous. I'd love to hear the guitar pick it up a bit more at the beginning of the song to really set the atmosphere. I'd love to really hear the voice go off as if it jumped off the record and separated itself from the background music. Bass could back off a little bit but nothing major. Organist might have a little too much freedom but hey that's, like, my opinion man. I feel the drums get buried a little bit in certain parts too. They could give more of a straight up snare hit on the counts rather than the multiple hit groove. I know it seems like I nitpicked more than offered praise but the reason is that this song is already 80% fantastic, I just thought I'd throw in a few things on the minority of the song. I'll try to offer advice on the other two songs later. Keep doing what you're doing man.

blujohnny - I appreciate the constructive criticism. I agree with much of what you say. I laughed at the beer drinking comment, because that is almost the kind of sound I was going for. Thanks for the kind words

Not much to add, here, but IMO, Rob knows what he's talkin' 'bout. One other thing, I'm guessin' here, but is that an AKG on the lead vocal? This is pretty subjective, but on the undoctored tracks, I found it a mite harsh.

Yes, it is an AKG. By far my favorite mic with my voice.

Re: Seeking your feedback on three songs please
Mark,I have just a few minutes so will just respond to "Living for Me" for now. I'd like to read the lyrics before commenting further on them but the basics of an excellent tune are definitely there. Very strong, memorable hook. To me everything else is secondary (although important if you want to be signed or forwarded). I could see this as a going as either a country or a rock song. If it were me I'd make studio demos of it both ways. I'm not sure if you're wanting comments on the recording or just the song, but I'm guessing that this is a home studio recording, although a pretty good one. I'd like to hear it done in a studio with the best singer you can find.Cameronp.s. OK, since my post I've read the thread and see that it was recorded in a pro studio... guess it's that 70s feel that threw me off. Anyway, great tune.

This song (Don't Be Afraid) is very much in the mold of a spiritual evangelical song. It seems almost perfect. It's almost tailor made for the world of Christian music
