Re: Deja Vu Blues
The instrumentation is nice. The songwriting is quite good. It started with a great "vibe" but you had a REALLY short minimal introduction followed by another introduction. Don't do that to an otherwise good song. People have a four bar expectation. You have to fulfill people's expectations before you can surprise them with breaking the one's you've set up. The intro isn't the place for that, especially for unknowns trying to get their stuff heard. It's hard to comment on the vocals and the production since the quality of playback from Broadjam is not so good. And then there's the microscopic speakers in my laptop situation. I wanted to hear more of the vibe thing that started in the beginning to continue into the tune and not lay back so much when the vocals started. I'm not sure but something about the production on the vocals could be different such as using something smoother instead of whatever is there but it could be the quality of what I'm able to hear with right now.

Re: Deja Vu Blues
Hey Greg, thanks for the listen. I originally had full instrumentation where the vocals begin & then decided against it. Maybe that was a mistake. I hear that part as the first verse & not another introduction but that may be because I have the benefit of knowing that's how it originated. I'm gonna think about putting the music back with it since that seems to throw folks off. Thanks!

Re: Deja Vu Blues
Bill,Wow!!!! This is a fantastic lyric. It's like .. every line is great and memorable. Wish I'd written it and if I did, I'd be afraid that I'd used up all my A material in one song. lol The melody is great, the backing perfect for this song, the singing is perfect for this. IT'S A HIT! Don't TRY to do anything with it is my opinion. It is so natural, just right. Just leave it as it and pitch the heck out of it.Dean

This is such a great tune, Steve did a great job with the vox, even though I liked it before, it sounds very natural and on. Melodyne is a great tool. You've got yourself a winner here, run with it.Marc

Bill,Great title, great hook! You've also got a unique tone to your voice and you're good at putting the gravel on the high notes.Yesterday, a singer that I'm coaching has a good high note gravel but he tells me that when he uses it his voice is shot for the next song. He demonstrated it to me and I could see that he was expand his chest and so I told him to get his breathing back to his diaphragm. However, I'm not one who can sing gravel and I'm wondering if you have any advice?I also intend for him to hear your song the next time he comes in to hear how easy you do it.Jeff

Re: Deja Vu Blues
hey Jeff, my voice is a product of being permantly "shot" I think & it never really goes away completely. Sometimes the raspiness is a lot more than usual but my voice just always stays the same (fairly strong) no matter how much I sing. If your friend is doing something on purpose to make his voice raspy or "gravelly" as you say then i would advise him not to. I'm sure by doing that he's straining & damaging his voice. I would advise him NOT to do that! I would much rather have a clean nice voice than the voice I have. I guess it's a case of "everyone wants what they don't have."Cam, not sure about the #260 gender. I tried to write the lyrics so that they could have more than one interpretation. You may be thinking of the "I'd love to turn you on" line but I was thinking musically & not about sex. Is that what you mean?
