Re: New demo song, alternative cello-pop
Thanks for the critical comments -- the cello & vocals were each done in one take, since I plan to record it with real drums (or better electronic drums) later on. So, no they aren't perfect but I wanted to get some comments before it was done as everything else I have is finished and I don't want to go back and reinvent the wheel. As for mundaneness and apathy, I'm not sure what to make of that comment. I consider my music anything but mundane, but some songs are bound to be received poorly by some people who want to hear something other than what I can provide. If it's mundane, I wonder who do you hear who sounds like this? Or, do you consider that I should be making music that's more "out-there" since I have the aptitude for that as well? As far as apathy, this isn't my most passionate vocal performance, so I hope that will be improved in the final version.

Hey Un!! I thoroughly enjoyed the cello. Your voice is lovely. I see where others are talking about 'predictable' but from my POV, it's more that you're approaching the verses from an alternative slant (unpredictable), then right into a 'pop' sensibility on the chorus and the prechorus (predictable). That might be what they're talking about. As for not being able to hear your vox, I could hear it fine, I think it's simply the enunciation and a teeny bit of strain and that's not always a big deal unless you're going to do other parts well enunciated, in which case it might jes sound inconsistent.I hear bits and pieces of Sinead, Loreena McKennit, Enya, Dido influences. You could drift out to the far edge of alternative and I don't think anyone would complain one bit. The chorus reminds me of Andrew Lloyd Weber, for some reason, which could be completely cool if you made the instruments a bit more unprecedented (unpredictable, heh!), if you're pitching for film/tv.Nice job! Enjoyed this a lot.
