Forward: Southern Rock/Hard Rock/Country Rock

Post by jauk » Mon Aug 17, 2009 7:21 am

Good afternoon-Just found out a song of mine, 3x's a Fool, was forwarded to the below listing: SOUTHERN ROCK/HARD ROCK/COUNTRY ROCK/CLASSIC ROCK SONGS with a “Contemporary feel” are needed immediately by the Music Supervisor for an Indie film set in Vegas, about a 30-something, former military, male protagonist named “Dean,” who is smart, lively and on a serious mission to get his life back together. The film also features an ensemble of male characters lead by Dean, who become a team of card counters working Downtown Vegas. The supe wants to hear songs that are musically in the vein of Foreigner’s “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” “Feels Like the First Time,” and “Juke Box Hero.” They also referenced Tom Petty’s “You Got Lucky,” Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page” (lyrically, but not so dark musically), as well as Lynyrd Skyrnyrd, Loverboy, and Journey. VERY IMPORTANT: THEY DO NOT WANT TO HEAR SOUNDALIKES OR COVERS - they want songs that have the musical style of these songs referenced, but with a CURRENT FEEL. Great Southern Rock will be welcome, but be careful not to submit anything that has a straight-up Blues approach. Please make sure that your performance/recording does not sound too dated. These songs need to provide a great backdrop and play naturally for the old-school, low-brow, gritty mood and energy of downtown Vegas. Vocal and instrumental performances must be top-notch! Recordings MUST be Broadcast Quality (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit ORIGINAL material with MALE VOCALS only. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than 10:00am (PST) on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. TAXI #D090811RKHere's a link to the song: http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... e-peacejoe

Nice work, Joe. That's a real good song...hits the mark on so many of the listed requirements. Authentic, easy, fresh & current production. Certainly sound down on yer luck in that hammy kinda way ...and nice nods to some of the referenced bands, too. I could do with a beer, now, and roll some bones

Bryan- Thanks so much for giving it a listen. I do very much appreciate it. I checked out your webpage. I really enjoyed your compositions. Do you write all the stuff or do you have other writers that you work with. You cover quite a bit of ground!! Thomas- Thanks so much for the congratulations! I found some of your stuff on your Taxi page. Sounds really good. I wish you all the best with your songs. Orest- I do appreciate you taking the time out for the congratulations. Thanks so much. Again- I really enjoy your work. You really have a handle on composing. Nick- Thanks, too, for the kind words. I found your stuff on your Taxi webpage as well. How is your new album coming along? -peace, joe
