Re: DOWNTEMPO/CHILL OUT
i'm just wondering.. do you listen to tony levin??? The tune has a "Waters of Eden" vibe to it. I agree with what was said above. Check out some of the dissonant melody notes. The tune has a great deal of potential. Just needs a little bit of tweaking. Some spots are little "bare" for my liking.. maybe adding some pad sounds, or bringing the ones that are there up in the mix a bit. mike

Re: DOWNTEMPO/CHILL OUT
well i just noticed the new version.. much better. everything sound more spread out.. and therefore as more room to breathe. The only the that i do not particularly like is the harmonized bass sound at the beginning of the solo. That is a matter of taste through.great jobmike

Re: DOWNTEMPO/CHILL OUT
Hey Vicky,Nice cool and relaxed vibe I'm getting from this one.I think like mentioned already, you might want to redo or rethink the percussion. Sometimes it took me out of that nice relaxed frame of mind. Maybe also make the drums less organic sounding and more on the electronic side. Nothing too crazy, maybe something along the lines of "The Beautiful Ones" by Prince. (or the artist formally known as, or that symbol that I can't produce from my keyboard...whichever one he goes by now)I'm not too familiar with the genre, so I could be way off, but that is what MY ears seem to want to hear, so take it for what it's worth I guess. What Mazz said about being a bass player who composes and a composer who plays the bass is all too true! I started out on drums, then bass, then guitar. So when I write music that uses those instruments, you can imagine the mixing process that goes on! I have to try my best to listen objectively so not every little thing that I think NEEDS to be heard is in front in the mix Overall, I think it's a good piece. Looking forward to the next revision!

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!!! Perfect for a relaxing first twist after work. I would say send her forth and see if she bears fruit.OK seriously, drums are very nice, all the little percussion elements, fit beautifully and love the ending where everything drops out individually. The mix sounds 100% better to me of pedastrian ears and the bass solo cuts through very gracefully. The first version sounds rushed (as are all my first mixes, I mean, I wanna hear it!!) this sounds very harmonious, well done!! Good Luck... Geo

Sounding very good. The piano part is very nice but it comes across a little bright in the mix, so I'd back it off a notch & EQ a little, as it stands out too much & takes too much focus from the rest of the ambient textures. I'd also nudge the brushes back slightly. Think blend. Very nice track and almost ready to go.HTHHummin'bird
