What are some good professional critique services?

Post by asiabackpacker » Tue Feb 05, 2008 6:25 am

I know Taxi has a custom critique service, but I can't find any info on this. Also, I've tried to get in touch with Jason Blume's song critique service, but unsuccessfully. What are any other professional critique services people have used and can recommend? Thanks,Elliott

Sign in to your page, click on 'custom critique', fill in the form, choose the song, and submit. Costs $20. Ask every question you want to ask (like a la's and what listings to submit to and is this broadcast quality, etc). Takes about 2 to 3 weeks to hear back. Make sure you indicate the genre. The CC's are very helpful.

I've used John Braheny a few times. He is very good, but extremely busy. You can reach him at www.johnbraheny.com, but don't expect a quick response.Jim

I used Pete and Pat Luboff once. I was very pleased with their critique (even though they didn't like my song, I thought their critisism was valid).Very prompt, too. Next day.http://www.writesongs.com/consults.html Dean

If you belong to NSAI (www.nashvillesongwriters), they offer a pro critique service which is part of the membership. Also, you can enroll in SongU.com , and they have a critique service there as well as online courses.

Thanks guys! I just got back a critique today from Pete and Pat, and found it very helpful and encouraging. I also just got my first TAXI critique back today, which while the song wasn't forwarded was also very encouraging, and made some very good valid points, that I totally agree with. (I was actually scared to get a critique back from TAXI after all the negative things people seem to say about their critiques, but I found their feedback very helpful and totally right-on!)I'll check out NSAI too-thanks!
