Since we were talking about Addictive Drums on another thread, I thought I'd post this worktape of a children's instrumental I'm working on. I downloaded the demo of AD and used it on this -- I haven't worked on humanizing any of the VIs & I will probably add more 'live' stuff, but I think the 'sound' of the drums is good quality. I like the AD on it, fun! I thought the song could do on a kids' show but it might work for one of those weird indie films my hubby and I always end up watching (I know, I should be writing, not watching )....The bridge at around 1:03 was a little.....I don't know......something off there, can't tell if it was the rhythm of the melody or the melody itself. The kazoo was off there somewhere, a little flat. It just seemed awkward. Otherwise, it's definitely cheeky and fun.

Vikki,I think the kazoo for something like this is great. I seems like the track needs something to give the kazoo a break and when it re-enters it will be novel again. I could hear some rolls on the marimba to give the effect of a little sustain in that part. The marimba seems just a little busy to me as well. Do you have a decent banjo sound? You could then have a comedy duo!!! (I've got a great banjo in RA , if you write a midi part I could send you an audio track) I did a track a while ago with banjo, clarinet, and bassoon . I think this is very good for childrens stuff, the sound just needs to be hotter and the bass a bit bigger I think.Maybe the ""kazoo" you call it?"" could be used more economically, but I think it would be even better to let it rip completely, do a section where it really goes mad in the middle, some up and down runs etc.Just a thought...

Fun Song! I agree that maybe you could incorporate a kazoo "solo". BTW the first time I ever used addictive drums I used the raggae beat from their demo & the tune was placed in an MTV show! Maybe the AD demo will be good luck for you as well. Here's my AD demo tune if anyone's interested. They were looking for a song with a Pink Panther vibe. Yeah,Just made that purchase this past Friday. I played with the demo, and then when I didn't have enough to work with, I immediately got on the net and shelled out the bucks. Vikki, the tune is hittin'. I kinda' agree though. I can't put my foot on it, but something just seems to be missing, not sure. The kazoo is cool though. If I think about it, I'll let you know. Maybe some of the bass notes would be better off in the lower registers rather than the higher ones. Maybe try and bring those high parts down an octave and see what they sound like. Just a suggestion.ibanez468

Vikki It's a song that makes ya wanna smile.....I'd add sparse low drum stuff....but more like boom...boom ...the kind of sound so it matches the humor of the kazoo.....this will make the bass OK....without it, I'm afraid the register of all the parts might be too narrow....sounds great!! very memorable ...Vicky
