It's so Simple, but It's Not Easy

Post by asiabackpacker » Fri Jan 25, 2008 3:22 pm

Hey guys, I'd love some feedback on this. I'm open to anything that comes up for you. This is my expression of the pain that goes along with a major breakup. If I have to throw out one specific question, do you think this song could add value to people's lives?....or is it just plain depressing? Thanks!Elliotthttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=94709&stream=true

I hope it's ok if I just jump right in here.To answer your question, right up till about 00:40; this tune added value to my life. I won’t make a judgment on the style. I just tried to look at this lyrically, rhythmically and melodically. I can imagine everything up till 00:40, played a hundred ways to Sunday; and it sounds good everyway I imagine it. To my ear and musical sensibilities that’s a pleasing and hooky melody/rhythm.After that it looses me, until it gets to about 01:30, a verse similar to the first.I just love this part. It touches me; it’s surreal and the song ‘grabs me right up’; till the repeat of the section I don’t like from the first go round. At 02:40 it comes back to a part that, to me, sounds like it could certainly be part of the first part, but I have a hard time hearing it because I don’t like the part in between.I hope this rambling helps; I tried to just listen and be honest about what I’m feeling as I listen.Joe Freeman

Very sad and heartfelt, I think it's pretty complete as a ballad, I think this could do with more instruments, although I'm not sure about the part after 2:20, sounds like a bridge just cause you think a bridge has to be in the song, didn't convince me. I would cut the song down to 3:00 or so and add some other instruments, maybe country bit although I don't like country much.
