one quick idea that occurred to me is your chord change on the word "top" (in "top of the line," first instance ~ 43 sec) is to use a (different) major there, or go from the chord you've got to the major II on the next measure before hitting the I where you do. So say the song's in C, you've got Amin on "top of the line" then go to Dmaj, and then resume as is. Just adds a little twist that -- to me -- is idiomatic to that style.Oh, NOW I see I'm on page 3 and by the time I've commented, you've gotten into a library with it! OK, forget my chord changes!

Very nice production and you certainly captured the sound and vibe of the artists described. My only thought is that the tune is almost note for note the same as another hit song which, unfortunately, I can't remember the name of. Perhaps the screener thought it was too close?

Interesting thread....i learn so much just from reading these things. Thanks to everyone's advice, I'll take it too. I wouldn't let this take the wind out of your sails, i'd let it blow you right on thru to your next forward!
