Chaos, disintegration due 1/8/08

Post by montster » Sun Jan 06, 2008 7:32 pm

Hey guys!Interested in feedback on whether this submission fits the listing and like to know what anyone thinks of the overall production of the song. Listing Heading:SONGS in ALL STYLES about chaos, crumbling down, falling apart, disintegration, etc. They mentioned "Burning Down the House", yet opened the post with"ALL STYLES".... Talking heads, although legendary, are such the "80's" stuff so I imagine a full on "sound-alike" is not what they're after. It seemed all about content. It's definitely not what my submission sounds like, which is more on the punk tip:Suburban Deathhttp://www.myspace.com/earthtoneproductionsongsHaving resurrected the song from some years back, I put some serious time on this one over the last few weeks (whew) to get it to this point!Love to hear from you!Love Peace and Hair Grease

Hey there...I'm new here, but I'll put my two cents in....good work...I don't want to pick it apart too much, because it's due, and definitely in good shape for the listing....I'm tough on drum patterns.......in the places where the drums go into double time underneath, I don't like the way it sits....not the same everytime....out of pocket somehow...."concrete all around'...lyric is disrupted by the drums...more breaks could be used to shape the song a little more....I kept wanting to hear a vocal break....a short one....just a beat or two...leading into or in the chorus....also a rhythm guitar break is appropriate in the style...lyrics are great!vocals are very good....backgrounds perfect for the songs personality...great guitar stuff....especailly the solo...good luck....IMO you're there.....Vicky

Hi Vicky I would have to agree with you about the drum stuff... not to make excuses but I did the drums myself, kind of "under the Gun" and just had to get them done for guys I know we're not avail such short notice.. C'est la vie. I hope to redo the entire thing soon with further production assistance where I'll schedule stuff weeks out so people can make arrangements and learn the music. Maybe you can play the bass on the tracks?!!Thanks for your other helpful comments, genuine and candid. Over all it was just fun putting the whole thing together and another step confirming why I do this stuff. I'm serious about you playing on the tune if you are hip to it... let me know!Hope your New Year brings you smiles so far PeaceMonty

http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?b ... 6776839Hey Monty, like your song a lot, I listened the other day but Vicky the Bassplayer covered just about everything I heard. My 2 cents would be a touch more highs on the snare (live or programmed?) to have it cut through the mix more. The link above is a couple of other songs going in on this listing (jchitty's is about the Burbs too), good luck... Geo

Quote:lack of comments may be because deadline is today....good luckOr it's maybe off genre for someone (outside type of music they do) and they don't feel comfy critiquing or as in my case someone else (Vicky the bassplayer) was very thorough and covered everything you heard.Don't sweat it, those who do right by you, return the favor and you should always garner a comment or two...
