"Sad Song"

Post by slideboardouts » Tue Dec 11, 2007 6:00 pm

Hey everyone.I was thinking about submitting this piece for the sad song listing next week:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... am=trueIts a solo guitar instrumental I wrote when I was about 16. Its roughly recorded and mixed and to me a little bit on the boring side...but definitely sad sounding.Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks,Steve

Hey Steve - definitely has a sad element. I'd work to clean it up production wise & perhaps see if you could add some counterpoint to fill it out a little.cheersHummin'bird

cool tune. i would definately clean it up a touch. counterpoint with another instrument would be cool - a wind instrument or possible violin.this is what i'm submittinghttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=82835&stream=trueit needs some work to... distortion in the clean guitars is driving me nuts!! i might re-record everything if i can fix it!mike

Thanks for the replies.I think that adding some counterpoint is a great idea and might make it a little more interesting.@mikebarresi: I think that a violin or a woodwind would be absolutely perfect. But I'm really not too happy with my orchestral sound samples at the moment. They sound OK for my hip hop stuff, but for something like this they might not work well. I'll give it a shot though after I clean it up.I'm at work so unfortunately I can't listen to your track...but I'll definitely give it a listen when I get home. -Steve

Hey mike I checked out your track and it sounds great! I'm on crappy speakers right now but from what I can tell it definitely sounds like something I would hear on TV. Good job!-Steve

definitely needs a re-record. it's played well, and is definitely a solid foundation, but needs some type of change. something dramatic ---- yea, that's definitely what it's lacking. something dramatic!!! something to just take it in another direction. 4 minutes of this would be boring, but with a climax???!!? and arc?????!! you could really be on to something!www.CultureVI.com
