60's style instrumental
Hi,I thought I try for a 60's style tune--I wrote it thinking about the usual "last dance" of the night at the school dance or prom. Hopefully captured the slow dance feel..Hope you like it... please let me know what you think!I Saw Her Therehttp://www.reddproductions.net/reynovia/isawhe ... reomix.mp3

Nicely done. I do think you've captured the mood.I felt that the backing could come up a bit, and maybe some reverb on the sax, but that's just a personal taste thing.I have one for this listing too, so best of luck to us
It's a fine line between a thick soup and stew.

Hey, Bob.the link you sent me through PM worked just great.Very cool. 1962...I can still see the mirror ball spinning, the basketball hoops cranked up to the ceiling and all the shoes lined up near the gym door. And lots of pink satin... but I'm actually too young to recall things like that. Really nice. I'll be stunnned if you're NOT forwarded.Ted

Re: 60's style instrumental
Thanks Guys,Mike, I went back and re-mixed it--- brought the keyboards and percussion up and added a touch more of reverb on the sax. Thanks for the suggestion- http://reddproductions.net/reynovia/isa ... mix.mp3Bob

Re: 60's style instrumental
Hi Bob,I like the piece a lot, nice sax. The only issue I have with it could just be a matter of taste but I'm not a fan of the hard panning style you used, especially with the bass, I always like my bass right in the middle. I know a lot of recordings in the 60s used that type of panning but I'm not sure the listing will really be looking for that. Of course I could be wrong and also, as I said, it's really a matter of taste. The one problem with panning like that is that you have to be more careful with the overall levels so that, if the song is used in mono, it still sounds good. In this case I can see a film use in mono if, for example, the piece was used as source music coming out of jukebox, they'd probably use that in mono. When I listened to it in mono, all I can really hear is the sax so I would check that in your mix, listen to it in mono a couple of times and adjust the levels a little, if necessary. The only other very minor point is that around 1:15 there is one note (yes, just one note) on the sax that sounds just a bit off. Other than that I think this is a stellar piece and I don't doubt it will get forwarded. HTHAntonio

Re: 60's style instrumental
Thanks Antonio, I glad you like it..I've mixed this tune 3 times.... the last mix I did I was trying to bring the keys up in volume. What I don't understand is, when I mix it on my old KORG1600, everything (volume wise) is perfect. Then when i bring it to Cd and load it to the computer, the keys are really soft. Drives me crazy! If I really bring it up on the mix. then its dissorted....The real answer is, "I'm buying the Mac Pro with Logic 8 this weekend when I get off the road. ( flew into snowy Chicago last night )I appreciate your comments.... If I'm lucky and get forwarded and if they like it. I'll remix it to whatever they want..Have a great day!
