Ready to turn in?
Here's the listing:MTV-like URBAN/RAP/HIP HOP SONGS (w/ vocals) along the lines of Chamillionaire, 50 Cent, Twista, T.I., Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Queen Latifah, R. Kelly, etc. are sought by the Music Coordinator of a Cable TV Network for numerous shows she's working on. No lyrical theme restrictions, but no profanity - clean versions only. No need to submit instrumentals, but if the music coord. is interested in licensing your song, she may ask for an instrumental version, so having one on hand is recommended. Great performances are essential. No uncleared samples. If forwarded for S070522UR, no need to submit the same material. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK]. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. For ground submissions, please enclose a S.A.S.E. if you would like a response. Submissions must be received no later than Nov. 29, 2007. TAXI # Y071129URIt's a little different than what I usually do, but this is what I put together:"Dark House"http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ream=1What do you guys think? Is it working? Thanks Dan

Re: Ready to turn in?
Let her rip Bro!!!! This track is tight. One comment is during the break section you might consider pushing up the "bass drop" to fill the space a bit, other than that, very nice.... Geo

Re: Ready to turn in?
Here's my amateur critique. I hope you don't mind.ReezinStyle_X_ On target for today's market in __Hip-Hop__ genre__ Not current sounding__ Hard to classifyStyle Comments:_At first I wasn't feeling the vocal style, but as the song went on, it fits the musical track perfectly. I would, however, look for vocal opportunities to alter the vocal cadence during the 2nd verse. If the song is selected to play its entirety, it'll be nice to hear that vocal variation______Melody_X_ Good music in verses_X_ Verses could be stronger__ Good music in chorus_X_ Verses/Chorus sound too similar_X_ Memorable Hook__ Hook not obvious enoughMelody Comments:No comments to make. The music track keeps me interested__________________Structure__ Intro too long__ Well-written structure__ Good sectional contrast_X_ Not enough sectional contrast__ Could use a bridgeStructure Comments:During the the Change/Bridge, right after.."the thing that makes me laugh"...I was expecting a big pay-off musically. Make it stronger.________Lyric__ First line makes me want to hear more__ Engaging_X_ Cohesive_X_ Good use of imagery__ Rhymes well__ Communicates emotion to listener__ Lacks focus__ Unique__ Too abstract__ I don't understand it_X_ Too predictable__ Too many cliches__ Awkward phrasing__ Vocal does not help to sell song__ Vocal does help to sell songLyrcial Comments:The 2nd verse should include a vocal twist or a surprise that we didn't get in the first verse______________________Title__ Good title__ So-So title_X_ Can't determine title by listening__ Could appear in a more strategic place__ Doesn't repeat enough__ Repeats too oftenTitle Comments:The song is called Dark House. I understand that after listening to the song______________________OVERALL COMMENTSThe song warmed up to me after a while, but not during the initial screening. We hear a lot from Taxi critiques and A&R reps that the song's pay-off needs to come quick in order to keep the listener interested. I can, however, imagine this in a MTV/Cable TV setting after a little polish on the vocals and beefing up the percussions. Overall, Good Work___________Now give a rating 1 to 10, 1 being the worst, 10 being the best:_9_ Music_6_ Lyrics_8_ Marketability_8_ Arrangement_7_ Production_7_ Engineering

Hey i like that track as well. I do think that there could be a bit more variation musically between the verse and chorus. I think you are on the right track.Mike
