Interested in some feedback on this one. Just finished recording it at home last night, so it's new and needs a better mix. But would like some feedback on the song. Lyle cool song. in your chorus You toss your dice into the skyI know there ain't no use in wondering why add a line here repeating first line meledy of chorusand a 4th line that desends into next part of chorus.But I'm gonna try, try, tryTill the well runs dryAnd I'm gonna cry, cry, cryWhen the well runs dryI think it will flow just a little better.Dave

Pretty, nice blues feel to it, almost like honky tonk blues......nice harmonies. I wasn't as fond of the try, try, try on the chorus but the harmonies totally saved it for me, very tight sound you got going there.

Thank you, Squid. Was it the words "try, try, try" or the chords and melody you weren't fond of?Ah well, there it is again though: another doomed song. Pretty good, maybe, but no place in the world for it. A pleasant oddity.Think I'm gonna write me some country.

No, I don't think it's a throwaway song at all, Lyle. It's got cool harmonies and an almost AllmanBros-esque thing happening at the same time. I think it was the walk on try, try, try.....something about it seemed.....I don't know, less than what you're capable of. Maybe you could try singing what isn't there instead of what is there. I know that sounds stupid but I've used that technique in the past when trying to find something new on a song and I can't hear anything else. Something unexpected. The verses were good to me, it was jes that spot in the chorus. Do NOT throw this song away.....it could be a nice film/tv listing. It's got good production, a nice bluesy feel.....the lyrics are edgy for blues but that doesn't mean it isn't influenced by it.

Well, thanks again, Squid...but I still wish I understood what you don't like. The whole chorus? The words? The music? I'm not "pushing back"...just don't get what you mean still. I'm thick that way.As far as the "throwaway" thing...no, I won't toss it. But it seems like such a longshot...and if there were actually a place for it, the production quality would need to be better. I honestly am going to spend some time trying to write a few good country songs. I don't think I have the wherewithal currently to purchase the things I need to bring my home production to "Broadcast Quality" yet. That $1000 just isn't available.Thanks for the feedback, though! Means the world to me.

Hi Lyle:Like I said, the only problem I had was the "try, try, try" notes you used, the walkdown in the chorus. Otherwise I thought the song was fine. And certainly something you could keep on the burner while you wait to shore up the home studio. Production is so important in the ongoing Taxi forward quest.
