New Guy!
Hello all,I'm the new guy on the forums. I dropped by to introduce myself and say "hello" to everyone. I currently live in Maine (Why I don't know) decided to get a job transfer to Maine. I lived in Texas prior to that where I was happily involved in a Rock band (Can't really classify what style of rock, so I will leave it as "Rock") before moving to Maine. I was the guitarist for the band. I play and am fluent on several different instuments to include: Guitar, Bass, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, and have been playing music for 23 years. I am a songwriter, (Can't really say singer, cause I only sound good to myself and my mother) where I write the melodies and the lyrics. I write songs resembling genres in many different styles with the exception of country. I like country but I can't seem to write any "country" melodies.I also REALLY ENJOY listening to different styles of music, on artists who haven't signed a major label deal. I like critizing songs so that's why I posted this message here, because I will more than likely be spending most of my free time in Peer to Peer. Again I would like to say Hello to everybody, and I hope you don't get sick of me from posting soon P.S. My grammar isn't very good, so I apologize for the many errors you will find.

Re: New Guy!
Nice to meet you, solrax. Sorry there isn't always a lot of response on this board. I'm pretty new here myself, though not to songwriting. Those that have been here a long time and have gotten to know each other appear to keep in constant contact, but it's probably too much to keep up with everyone's posts...although I daresay there could be room for improvement in that department. Still there are great posts to be read, and, if they decide to give you one, good critiques as well. One thing's for sure, your posts will always get read...just not always responded to. Look forward to hearing your work! -Lyle

Re: New Guy!
Hi!! Umm, re: threads and some folks.....I can tell you I'm not in constant contact with anyone. I try to get to Peer to Peer when I can.....you can cover more territory in other forums where critiques aren't required, which is I guess why there isn't as much traffic here. I like listening but don't always have the concentrated time to sit down and listen to a lot of songs, but then I feel bad if I only listen to one song on one thread, like I'm not doing my best or something. I guess we all do what we can. I hope you'll post your music. Critique-ing, while fun for some (I don't like doing it myself), isn't really kosher unless you offer yours up for critiques too. Fair's fair, right? Hope to hear your stuff soon and welcome aboard!

Re: New Guy!
Thanks for all the replies!I will get to placing a few of my songs on here eventually. I have a guy working on the mastering and finalizing on a 4 song EP my band in Texas worked on. When he gets them complete I will put them up (if he ever does, he hasn't yet and it's been a while since we recorded). ~Solrax~

Hi Solrax - it's nice to meet you! THe reason you haven't had a lot of response here is you posted in "Peer to Peer" - as you noted - which is where we listen to & give feedback on each other's work. You'd probably get more response if you headed over to "General Hangout" and posted an intro there. There are no hard & fast rules, just trying to let you know how things sort of work around here. When you do get your stuff online, here's the place to post it, for sure. You sound very talented! I also like to listen to lots of indie music, in fact, that's pretty much what I listen to all day (that, and lots of scales, lol). You might want to have a read through this thread:http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?b ... 86086kinda gives you an overview of the forum.Look forward to hearing more from you, cheersHummin'bird
