Quote:Quote:The browser I'm using is IE.The media player I'm using is Windows.Yes, I can play an mp3 file one it's downloaded to my hard drive....no problem there.I am on dial-up, but I will be getting DSL come December. My husband did disable the Window's Vista firewall, but it didn't work. He also disabled a McAfee firewall, but that didn't work as well.In your case it may just be a speed/reliability issue with your internet connection. Or it could be that you always click on the links for the people who haven't posted it correctly... Try this: open Windows Media Player, go to File -> Open URL and type the following:http://www.taximusic.com:8888/a/avillar ... p3.m3uDoes it work? Thanks, Antonio....I'll give it a shot....I gotta piddle around with it a bit.

Quote:So you could use the taximusic.com address, it's just shorter and more convenient when you are giving the address to someone to use the taxi.com version.Well, actually you can't use the taximusic.com domain for referencing your Taxi page. Or at least I can't.www.taximusic.com/davewalton gives an error whereas www.taxi.com/davewalton goes to the correct page. I've seen URL's using the taximusic.com domain name (what I'd expect since my music info is on that domain). For most people the concept of having their music on the taximusic.com domain but having to reference it through the taxi.com domain is or would be confusing.Hopefully we're not talking about two different things here.

Or at least I can't.If you read my post carefully, I gave an example of how to use the taximusic.com address which is longer than just <domain>/<user> as it is with taxi.com, in your case it will be:http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... vewaltonSo you have to add the "hosting/home.php?artist=", that's why they gave us the taxi.com/artist alternative, it's basically a shortcut. The wikipedia definition of URL redirection explains this very well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URL_redirection). It says:"Currently, web engineers tend to pass descriptive attributes in the URL to represent data hierarchies, command structures, transaction paths and session information. This results in a URL that is aesthetically unpleasant and difficult to remember. Sometimes the URL of a page changes even though the content stays the same."In our case, in taximusic.com, the programmers needed to pass important information on the URL, such as your ID, so that the script knows what information to display. That's why we end up with the ugly "hosting/home.php?artist" address. In order to provide a simple way for us to give our address to someone without having to always type the long version, they added a shortcut, using URL redirection to create a short address that automatically sends the user to the proper site (the long address).Ok, enough lecturing, I'm done for the week. Of course it also occurred to me that the only reason this is not confusing to me is because I know what "URL redirection" is...So I'm flip-flopping, you're right Dave, that is confusing

Re: TAXI hosting page song LINKS...
My work computer doesn't let me click on the taxi hosted music (it will prompt for me to open the file, then usually hang)I find the easiest solution is to right click the link and "Copy Link Location"then just paste it into my media player using the "Open URL" method (I usually use QT for this)
