Happiness - a Buble song

Post by deantaylor » Mon Oct 29, 2007 11:33 pm

Hey Everyone,We'd love to hear your opinion of our new song. We are targeting both artists and film-tv. We think it's good for Michael Buble. Any other artists it might be good for? All comments welcomed.http://www.mp3unsigned.com/showmp3.asp?mp3ID=50121 Click on lyric button to read lyricsThanks,Dean and Chris----------------------------------------------------------------------Which interpretation below is closest to what you thought about the guy at the end of the song?OPINION #1: I feel that the guy is very sincere about love (at this point in his life). In the tag, I feel like he is seriously asking if the woman will try love with him. Love will probably work for him .. He will find happiness.OPINION #2: the women in the audience are attracted to the "player" . they know very well that when he is saying he is going to try love ....... he means he has no intention of changing ....... he's quite happy with a one night stand with one of the women ....... and they don't care .. they are attracted by that ......... they like the badish boy ....so when he is saying for my next thing he will try love he does not really mean it ........... he is just saying that to get the next women.OPINION #3: The guy THINKS (in his current concious mind) that he is sincere about love, but deep down inside he has a character flaw or something that won't let him stay with one woman long enough to find true love. He'll want a new thing just like he always has in the past. He may go back to being a playboy or he may try something else, but he will never find happiness.

Hey Dean - Just a note on the mp3 - I have my sound turned up full and still have trouble hearing the song. Maybe repost one with the volume boosted?H

Played okay for me. It's not my genre so I don't have an informed opinion on it, so I'll jes stick to technical stuff if that's okay. The singer could be a little more clear in his diction, maybe? The lyrics didn't necessarily strike me as romantic in spots but perhaps this isn't a romantic song? The melody line was good and the singer did a good job, his tone is really nice. The music was good too. A little dated and Buble has some of that going on, although he really tries for "timeless" and "classic". It's all in the ear of the screener.Good luck, Dean!

Nita,Thanks for the feedback. Two phrases got a little washed out in the mix. We are fixing that:chorus: "all the best"bridge: "but with who"If anyone hears any other specific diction problems, tell us the words, we'll listen again.Your comment on whether this is a romantic song was food for thought for me. Thanks for that. Helped me to put some things in perspective. The song is still very new to me, too. I heard it for the first time just a few days ago. I think, because of the overall musical interpretation of the lyric and the way the lyrical story turns from the bridge on, the song is 60 percent romantic and 40 percent about a guy's search for happiness in life. If the musical interpretation of the lyric were 'less romantic' this percentage could change. I think the musical interp is 'less romantic' in the verses, as it should be, so maybe some of the lyrics are not typical of a romantic song there. Hopefully, this complexity is a good thing. DeanPS Vikki, do you have a Mac? That might explain your volume issue. If so, I can fix it.

Well, also, it might be in the ear of the beholder. My first thought was "oh, this is a song about life" then later it sounded like a song about dissatisfaction with life and then it turned into a romantic thing at the end. It's an interesting take on a difficult subject. Glad you got the vox blurs worked out, that's always good. Hope this one brings you all the fortune in the world, Dean.

Hi, Dean -- I like the groove of your song, and also really liked your idea of pitching it for use in film/tv - to me I could hear it playing as background music while some one was walking the streets of New York. Sort of reminded me of Christopher Cross' song "When you Get Caught Between the Moon and New York City" - I think it was in an old Dudley Moore movie?? Sorry I'm not more help - but I'd definitely suggest pitching to film/tv. Best of luck!

Thanks keb, You were very helpful. I can here some Chris Cross in here. (Arthur .. was the movie)PS Where are you from in Texas? I lived in Dallas 7 years and Austin 9 years. Do you happen to compose/produce honky-tonk music (like Joe Ely, Jerry Jeff, Robert Earl Keane, or more countrish like Hank Williams Jr.)? Or do you know someone talented who does? I've got a very fun Texas lyric .. looking for a co-writer.Dean

Hey Dean -- thanks very much for your comments over on my post -- certainly glad I could help a little on yours. I live about 40 miles outside of Dallas, been in the general area pretty much my whole life. I grew up listening to country music and tend to mainly write in that genre. I've written more traditional country songs, but they didn't make it on my short list to demo - darn that thing called a budget. I'd love to take a shot at co-writing -- it would be my first venture in that area. Maybe we could chat via the personal message link in the forum to figure out next steps?? Thanks, Tricia
