A little help

Post by handrick » Fri Jun 29, 2007 10:10 am

Hey all,I have been doing some collaborating lately, which is kinda new territory for me..anyways, I have written the music for someone elses lyrics which were in a country vein, now I am not too well up on the whole country scene , so I don't know what genre this song fits into... alt country, contemporary country.... is this the kind of song Nashville would be happy to hear??? I have a very rough demo uploaded on my taxi profile page, called Women & Whiskey..... http://www.taxi.com/andrewhandrickif you could take a listen and give me some feedback as regards genre I'd be much obliged... cheersAndrew

Andrew, I like the song and am by no means an expert on anything. My simple observation considering the question "Is this the kind of song Nashville would be happy to hear?" is that I don't hear these kinds of down-home lyrics coming from the newer artists. Country is a little out of my element, so anyone feel free to correct me, but it just seems like the guys writing these types of songs are established acts, not breakthrough artists. Maybe a part of that is the fact that country has kind of wandered into pop territory as of late. I also know nobody in Nashville, these are just my simple observations as a music fan and amateur producer.Matt

Hey Matt, thanks for taking the time to get back to me..I hear what your saying about the lyrics, though as I say I am not up on the whole country scene.... I guess all music seems to be heading down the middle road these days...Andrew

AndrewI'm only really replying to this post to say how're'ya to a fellow Irishman. I'll stay miles away from offering any critique on country music. It's a very tough genre for third party songwriters from what I read. But aren't they all? But I said I'd stay away from that!Welcome to the boards. I lived in Bray (Ardmore Park) for 5 or 6 years in the late 80s. God, that hill was a killer after the last bus home!Liamwww.myspace.com/liamkellymusic
