Ah, that's cool. I gotta check out some of those newer soft-synths... I haven't bought anything since Ivory.

Ah Chuck, do you think if I played my famous A chord on the guitar controller I could extrapolate a good solo from it? Because that's what I'd have to do! I'm totally guitar challenged when it comes to chops. As far as Gypsy goes, the samples are pretty much all of the quality you'd expect from East West. I think the jury's still out on the violin, it's got a lot of samples and keyswitches but it'll take some time to learn to drive it convincingly. As far as PLAY goes, it has a few little bugs in Digital Performer, one being that the bypass switch for the reverb doesn't work. I've let them know about it. In standalone mode it works very well but I won't use it that way on my Mac and I need another iLok to move it to my PC. I've just taken baby steps with it but it seems pretty expressive so far but like anything, it takes time to learn how to make it sound convincing. There's some pretty good demos on the soundsonline website now. Thanks for the layering tips! I'll try them out next time I need to do my faux-tar thang!Mazz

Quote:Since we brought our new puppy home it's been pretty insane (in a good way ) around the house. That and trying to write some new stuff has kept me off the boards here more than I like. I enjoy listening to everyone's pieces and putting in my 2 or 3 cents.I thought I'd post links to a few of the new pieces that have been coming out. They're mostly 1 minute cuts trying to set a mood. Hopefully they are successful in that regard.http://www.johnmazzei.com/song/0http:// ... 5Hopefully I'll be back in the swing soon, depends on how the housetraining goes! Enjoy, MazzThese are all cool. I especially like Bi-Polar & Noise of War. Good stuff!
