Everyone did such a great job on this they inspired me to throw my hat in the ring.Didn't have a lot of time to put this together but thought I'd give it a whirl (so to speak )http://www.johnmazzei.com/song/0Dervish Dance. Would love some feedback.Mazz

John, you are truly gifted. That is a great take on what they might be looking for. Nice Hat!

Mazz, Your "fez" in the ring ( I don't if they wear a fez in Armenian) has alot of energy as well as creating a great deal of tension. Would work well in a scene with "rogue cops' pursuing a suspect. (or another rogue cop)Chuck

Thanks guys! Actually I do have a Fez hanging on the wall in my studio. A memento from my trip to Egypt 16 years ago. Don't know if they wear them in Armenia either, though. On to the next challenge! What's the next hat we get to wear?John

What a fantastic, imaginative, skillful, artful use of your digital toolbox, Mazz! When I first read the listing description (below) I practically laughed out loud! I thought the client was mostly looking for mainstream material with Armenian vocals because I thought maybe the sound of Armenian pop culture wouldn't necessarily have much of a regional ethnic flavor. Anyway it all seemed impossible to me until now. Maybe with a little magic, excellent material like this will make it through!-AllenQuote:ARMENIAN SONGS & INSTRUMENTALS are needed by the Music Supervisor of an award-winning TV drama about Los Angeles-based "rogue" cops that will begin its 6th season soon. He wants current/mainstream material - Pop, Rock, Rap, Electronica, etc. - that is distinctly Armenian. He's not seeking traditional-style Armenian folk music - your material must be very contemporary. Male or female vocals are OK, but they must be in Armenian. All tempos are OK. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK].

Hey Allen, thanks a lot for your kind words. As you know from my reply to your sampler post, I'm a fan of East West libraries. The strings are from one of their libraries called RA. It's the Middle Eastern string section patch. If you hit the key hard enough, they do that sexy little bend automatically. That and a touch of basic echo and instant strings from space! The lead instrument is an Oud from the same library, run through a suite of guitar amp and fx simulators called Nigel. It runs on a UAD-1 card. I wanted to funkify the Oud to take it away a little from the traditional. It too has cool bends and vibrato built in to the patches. Great stuff all the way around. And fun too!!!Thanks again,John

Good. Musically, I am not sure about the synth bass or whatever that is. But dramatically it does add tension and some modern feel, so maybe you are on the right path here.
