Very Curious !!!
Can someone tell me why "stickinsound" get so much heat for taking more than he gave concerning song reviews, while "mhoffman's" "very" similar posting activity appears to go unnoticed? Is there a standard to be met or are people simply shunned at random. What gives?Signed catsinbuses,RanCase Closed ! So what did I learn? The sad unapologetic truth that all new members are victims waiting to become, dependent upon the fickle fortune of the forum's good will. And like rats to cheese we either feast or feed on poison. !

What gives?Signed catsinbuses,RanWe just like to shun people at random, or if we don't like the look of their name or if we get out of the wrong side of the bed. ONLY JOKING!!!!!!! Personally, I tend to look at the 50 most recent posts and just reply to some of those.Plus most of us have other things to do, so we'll jump in every now and again to comment on others work. It's probably more a case of picking ones at random to take notice of Oh, and we have a few characters on here that need to be understood. I've had some negative stuff too. All active members get it in the end.I'm not too bothered about that.

Re: Very Curious !!!
Hey dogsincars. I'll chime in here. I've posted to a few threads of other people, but I'm pretty new to recording so can't always give the type of advice the others do. I also post to a cakewalk.com forum which is more active than the Taxi peer-to-peer forum. I understand it is a matter of give and take being balanced, and I will post to more of the other's threads, but this forum is a bit slow and again, I don't have much to say, yet. -Matt

If someone new is posting a bunch of stuff for review... then I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give feedback on one piece and then move on. I'm a nice Canadian, eh?

Re: Very Curious !!!
I generally only get time to look at the last few posts, and usually only in peer to peer. If someone is asking for a critique, or advice, and I have some ideas, I'll usually chime in. Sometimes though, if the song is not a style I feel comfortable spouting about, then I keep my mouth shut so I can't put my foot in it. On a totally off-topic note, I'm on a quest to find a killer sax sample, soundfont or whaterver. I used to have a great one that got wonderfully dirty at high velocity, but alas, it sits on a dead hard drive behind me. Naturally I can't remember where I got it from. I seem to recall it was a free one too

Just so you know, no one on these boards has any real seniority. We're all just trying to figure out whether our music good enough yet, or how to make money once it is good enough. There are scuffles, usually about religion , ethics and politics. There's almost always someone getting their nose bent out of shape. Sometimes it's me. Myself, I find the boards to be pretty entertaining, and awesomely informative. I very much enjoy listening and helping to critique other member's stuff. Sometimes I get peeved when newbies start asking for a zillion opinions, and expecting that every one here is going to jump up and down. The truth is - sometimes I wish some of you (especially the great artists), would just stop submitting to categories that I'm submitting to. So I can win the forwards. That's a joke, but I'm sure everyone has their little private thoughts about how they could do better. Cause there is some insanely competitive music here on many different artists' sites. And it took Jeffe, Jchitty and i just over 4 months of posting to become, ultimate members. So we're all freaking newbies. We're all here to learn. There are a few members here who really know THIS business. You'll see how the little tidbits of info start adding up to helping you save time, money, and heartache.I took exception to Stix referring to JD as an **shole. That, will pretty much get anyone's gander up around here. JD asked me to marry him, a few months ago, so I always stick up for him now.The other thing I've noticed, is how this can sometimes be a lousy place to post any criticism of Taxi, screeners or Michael. That's not really a surprise tho, it's a business. However, the people that have been around for a long time, just know...My rule is - if you ask me my opinion on anything, you ought to be prepared for whatever honesty comes out of my fingers, AND be willing to offer the same courtesy back. A good rule of thumb would be, listen to a bunch of other people's stuff, and get into relationships, BEFORE you ask for opinions on your own work. It's generally a nice suburbian community, where life is pretty friendly. The real world of getting music placed and making money, seems to be fraught with many obstacles, and lots of not so nice people. So I'm a nice Canadian too, unless you call any of my friends names. Then I'm just a hockey goon.you wanna make sumpin outta this?

Quote:Matt, If I were to ask, " how stupid could I be?" My answer would have to be, very much so. It took a few hours... but I eventually realised that it was absolutely wrong of me to use your name and posting pattern as my "case in point." It was my grievance and I had no business dragging you into my argument. For this I am an idiot. And I apologise. RanRan, You are universally forgiven. I've been around forums for a few years and can understand how easy it is to missunderstand written dialog. I've learned to give the benefit of the doubt (although, I'm an eternal optimist so I'm always trying to see the positive side of things.)Anyway, I wish you well on your creative endevours. I look forward to hearing your music. -Matt

I like JD... however, I don't get involved that much in the spats...not because I'm above it all, (believe me, I can be mischievious (sp?) too) but because people are gonna do what they're gonna do, regardless of what anyone says. So I usually just lurk, laugh, gasp, cuss, roll my eyes, whatever, hehe. This board is pretty entertaining....I have this weird sense of humor, I guess, but I'm constantly laughing most of the time. I can't welcome all the newbies because I am a newbie, so those honors go to the board regulars....but I will welcome them silently.
