Re: NewAge Songs submitted
Yeaaah! I can finally listen to the BJ player here at work. (Now I will be on everybody's back forcing my feedback upon y'all) Dr Eternal, I think you are an extremely talented "neo" classical composer (I added the "neo", as I'm not sure if any classical material made these days can be called 'Classical' in the correct sense). Correct me if I'm wrong.I liked all of these tracks, and they are very well composed, arranged, and produced. However (there's always a 'but' isn't it?), but this is more of a general question to everybody involved in arranging and producing tracks that relies heavily on emulated orchestra sounds:Do you feel confident in using orch software such as EWSQL (or whatever the abbreviation is), Vienna, Gigastudio, Garritan, etc, etc to render a good enough result that could be used in TV and Film (I'm excluding the gaming market)?I can definitely see it work for temp tracks, but for a real scores in films or as bed tracks in a TV show....well, I'm not sure. As for these particular tracks, IMHO they would benefit from being performed by a real orchestra.

Re: NewAge Songs submitted
These three tracks are OLD ones for me, recorded when I first got my Garritan orchestra samples (about 5 years ago) that I just submitted as-is for a looming Dispatch deadline. I have no doubt they could benefit from a real orchestra. However, after having been using Garritan (and others) for that time, I am now used to the quirks of 'performing' on samplers, and have a lot more tricks up my sleeve in rendering the orchestral music (compare the sound of Frosted Glass with the _very_ recent Mediation, for example), so the final product is less detectable as being 'fake'.There will never, IMHO be a 100% substitute for a real orchestra, and I look forward to getting my music played by one someday.Dr.Ehttp://www.TuringShop.com

Dr. E, you are very skilled in producing orchestral music using samples. There is no denying your composition abilities. That being said, I prefer your more recent work as far as sound quality goes. The ones I heard for the listing have a marked bump in the upper midrange which to my ears adds an unnatural edge that your newer material does not have. (Notwithstanding the sonic hit they take on the journey to mp3-land)For my money, the piece that comes the closest to the listing is Vacant Wanderer which is closer to Enigma or Mannheim Steamroller. I know you didn't submit that one but IMO that's a good one for this listing. I've been wrong before (only once or twice) I'm being tough on you but you can take it!. I would expect the same in return!! Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Yes, If those were recorded using Garritan, I'm truly impressed as well. Your tracks sound way better than the demos they present on their website. The root of my concern was really because I decided to go with EW myself, as I had the intention of getting more orchestral sounds into my compositions. I haven't yet been able to make them sound convincing enough though, and so far I've resorted to just letting them "hover" in the background, when there's a lot of other things happening.Dr E, I think you have an amazing sense, and skill for these kind of compositions (now I take your other tracks into account as well), and I'm sure I will see your name mentioned in the credits of a feature film one of these days.

Thanks all for your kind words. I've always wanted to re-record my earlier stuff (especially those three) - and now maybe I will. As for Vacant Wanderer, well, I guess I was pushing (as usual) for my orchestral music. Maybe I'll submit it to a future new age listing.Dr.Ehttp://www.turingshop.com
