Acid Jazz

Post by mazz » Mon Apr 16, 2007 11:28 pm

Soliciting feedback on a preliminary version of an Acid Jazz piece. So far just 2 identical repeats with an organ solo on the second repeat.I'm planning on building this up with maybe an interlude after the organ solo and then back to the head with a punchy ending. Any feedback/ideas appreciated.Mazzhttp://www.johnmazzei.com/song/0

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

I would love to hear it, it's ashame the streaming on the broadjam players are blocked here at work.Soundclick, and Myspace works fine though. Do broadjam stream through different ports perhaps?

I'm not very familiar with the style, but the recording and performance are top notch. Keep up the good work!Dr.Ehttp://www.Broadjam.com/DoctorEternal

Thanks songwriter. Glad you enjoyed it.The flute part is actually a 70s synth lead patch from Atmosphere, the same sound as the synth lead in the middle of the track. The organ is a Nord Electro. I used the internal Leslie effect and also a touch of the internal overdrive sound. The Electro is a great axe and the keyboard feel is really close to a real Hammond. And it only weighs 17 pounds! Thanks again,Mazz

Hi Mazz, I like it. I do think the bass is a little hot for the overall balance. My ear wanted a little more of the organ out front. This is just an old farts view, take it for what it's worth.Donny

Good stuff Mazz. Sounds 60's style with a slightly modern edge.

Sounds thorougly pro to me. Best of luck. Nothing bother me about the mix. I love the sliding turn-arounds.Peace,Ian
