Not sure how many people do jazz here but I wanted to share a little thing I just put together for the jazz listing due this Friday.This is a rough mix because I'm still waiting on the key so I can run my new bass software It should be here tomorrow In the meantime, the bass is from the Kontakt 2 library.Also, for some reason the stereo image of the piano is reversed. Must look in to that.As a long time jazzer I'm used to playing from the Great American Songbook which is drawn mainly from the 30s and 40s show tunes. This piece I wrote is in classic AABA form, which isn't written much these days. The solo is over AB and then out on A. You old smoothie Good gentle relaxing number. It rolls along nicely.I see what you mean about the piano though. It sounds weird hearing the high notes in me left ear.

Very nice classic mainstream jazz, and on a left handed piano. Liked the drums too.

The drums are from a sample/loop library called Jazzistic. I've had it for a few years. The version I have is the audio CD version. I just combined different loops and added cymbals here and there. Thanks for the mix tips also.Mazz

Yeah, nice tune. Nice to hear more jazz folks on the forum.What drum library are you using?Since it's hard for me to keep my mouth shut I'm going to give a little feedback (my opinions only):1. Your piano sound was a bit too bright for my taste. I don't listen to that much of this genre of jazz so maybe that's a common aesthetic but it would be more enjoyable for me if it was less "cutting".2. I see from your website that you are a guitar player. Man, it sounds great and it should be playing the melody, the piano part sounds stiff in comparison. Bring the piano back in the mix as a counter melody and step out with the guitar right away, don't wait until the solo.3. I've found that adding crash cymbals on transitions, particularly after drum fills, really help add to the realism of looped drum tracks. Even if your loops don't have "crash on the downbeat" versions, I'm sure you have a few samples laying around that you could add. Almost no drummer will come out of a fill without hitting at least one cymbal, unless it's for a dramatic effect. It's so common that it sounds weird (to my ears) without it.Keep up the good work. The drums are from Burning Grooves Expander for Stylus RMX. The drummer is Abraham Laborial Jr. There are full grooves, fills, and elements (just hihats, just snare etc.) you can combine to make a groove. There is also the ability to add CHAOS to the grooves to add a random varaition to the patterns.

I probably wouldn't have thought to use it on a jazz piece like this, very cool idea! (still need to add cymbals )

Man I dig listenin' to the jazz tunes... both of these are excellent... Can't give you much feed back on the mix though because these speakers aren't true enough.. . the one sonic idea I had for Chuck,... (and I really hate to give it away....) in fact...... Both you lads sound very good. I submitted two tracks to this listing also. Don't know if they will hold up among such competition, but have hopes. Sorry I cannot post the songs from dinosaurville.
