Re: "Hittin The Nuts Tonight"
Thanks Johnny! I need to keep my chin up. I'll figure something out. As far as getting the session files from my (friend?) I doubt he will do it. He went apeshit when I told him that I didn't like the piano and said he was dumping everything to make room for other stuff. On top of that, he bounced about all of the tracks so much to make room, I don't know if it can be undone.

That is a real shame, man. It is a drag finding out about that side of people, that they get in a snit and shaft everyone. Good luck in using it as a demo, and I hope you get a shot at getting it recirded right (just make sure you own the master).

ToncartDid you pay this guy? It's his studio, will he give you the session files?I don't think it's that bad except the piano. If you could get those session files you could add good piano and a new vocal. If you get those files, I could recommend someone and I'm sure others here could too.It could be a kick-butt track ! I did not pay this guy. I did pay him for my other songs, but he wanted to do this for free. He jumped at the opportunity in the beginning. I even told him that I would give him partial credit for the music because his melodies were a little different than what I had. It's his studio (which is just a decent recorder on his front porch). I know he won't give me the files if I tell him that I want to make some changes. It's my song. I should have paid him. I offered several times, but he wouldn't take any money. The only thing I have is the cd he gave me and what's on my Soundclick page. I'm considering other options. Anyone ever have success with Song Cellar from Nashville? I would have to start from scratch though.

hi ton,I'm not a country specialist, so I just write something about the production/performance.* the singers voice sounds authentic to me, though the performance (some intonation, some phrasing) could be better* the guitar work is not really tight and clean, especially the acoustics (intro!!!). I would rather mic the ac guitar instead of using the piezo PU.* mix: I guess you know that this doesn't sound like a polished master - the guitars sounds thin (rhythm ac, vers/chorus), the vocal has not the right reverb on it for its place in the mix, the levels could be better adjusted as well as the overall picture of frequencies.the song itself sounds interesting to me in the beginning, but at some point starts to get a little monoton.hope that helps!Martin

Are you listening to the right song? "Hitting the Nuts Tonight" doesn't have an acoustic guitar intro or acoustic guitar at all for that matter. Check again. As for the singers voice, yes he is good. Really, Really good when he wants to be. He was in Nashville for awile and actually did major demo work for guys like George Strait. He almost got the break himself about 10 years ago. I hate to lose him, but if he's going to be impossible to work with, then I forfeit. He's selling guitar picks at a local music store. I don't need him to be all "superstar" on me. We were supposed to work together on this but he won't take input from anyone because he "was in Nashville once". That attitude has landed him in a music shop selling strings. It's a shame. He's got some awesome songs that he has written and he's got a great authentic voice.

Don't get downhearted ton!!!Johnny's right..........yet again.Well done Ton.

I would have to start from scratch though. Give Dave Scarboro a listen at eastcraft studios. He will do it from scratch for under $180 depending how much you want doing. itmight not suit his voice or your ears then do it but its worth listening to him http://www.eastcraftdemos.com/
