I suspect you all hate this but...

Post by liamkelly » Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:48 pm

....as a new Taxi songwriter/member I get intimidated by the quality of the songwriting I listen to on this site. And additionally I suffer from the inability to put distance between myself and my songwriting. As many of us do. Anyone who can spare two minutes and go to broadjam.com, search Liam Kelly, listen to the two tracks and give me a couple of sentences will earn brownie points sometime somewhere.I'm not looking for stroking. Or analysis. Or dissection. Just have a generic listen and tell me if Taxi maybe is or isn't the right place for me. Outside of the fact that, in a sense, Taxi is the right palce for every songwriter.Much appreciated.Liam Kelly.

Hi Liam,I have nothing in this, I'm not a paid spokesperson, etc. I listened to Rescue Me (Radio Edit) and there's no reason for you to feel inferior to anyone. Inside or outside of Taxi, your music is professional in every way.Hang around the boards, take a look at the listings, etc. See what happens. Good stuff,Dave

I agree that Rescue Me sounds very professional and I'd guess you know exactly what you are doing.

GuysThanks you sincerely for taking the time to have a listen and for your feedback. I have spent some time reviewing the various posts on the pros and cons of Taxi and I have to conclude that for where I am right now it would a worthwhile avenue for me to pursue. However long the oddsGood luck with all your projects.Liam

Hi Liam,I just joined, myself, and thought I'd do my duty and listen to and review others' work, as I've asked to have done with mine. With your songs, it's not a duty, but a pleasure. Excellent production, writing, performance. "Rescue Me" and "First Mistake" are both first-class. You've got nothing to worry about. All you need is "the big break." I'm at a loss to see how you could possibly avoid it.By the way, I loved the little bits of synth weaving through "Rescue Me." I'm a sucker for that when it's well done, and not shoved down my throat.Welcome, and keep up the good work.Jeff
