Re: Next time I'll skip the TAXI and take the trai
Celeste, I'd love to agree with you on this, but I have to go with Taxi here. I honestly don't think I would have forwarded them either. Perhaps, Joy To The World, but not the others. Even there the oboe is a bit harsh, albeit well played. Besides what Daniel mentioned, I find the vocals on Front Porch to be a bit pitchy. The guitar in Silent Night is competent, but the recording has a homemade feel to it. Perhaps this is the "organic" feel you refer to. For example there's some background noise at around 5 seconds into the intro that is just not acceptable for broadcast quality. You're very talented but current recording standards are just a bit higher than what you achieved here.Sorry I couldn't be more positive. Hi Celeste, I have felt pretty much the same as you do now. Back when I first joined Taxi I got some returns I found hard to take, but after I removed myself emotionally from it ( face it we're artists), I took the criticism and applied to make some of the tracks stronger. Fast forward a year and I've had 20 or so forwards and I've been contacted by a music library that asked for a bunch of songs.

So my question now is, you stuck with it, you got forwards; how much cash is in your pocket as a result? I can play live without being beat up emotionally and actually make a little pocket change..............

I've made an agreement with myself to take all forms of transport with my music... from the Taxi to the Train to the Bus to the Aeroplane to the Rocket Ship & not just depend on one source... It's a tough industry we all know so we need to push like hell in every possible way we can... make full use of every opportunity there is... submit to listings submit to libraries submit to tv stations, radio, supervisors, directors... even to God herself... some sources we have to pay & some are free, some have higher demands & some less but each are chances there to take & all are targets we strive to hit... I hate losing cash too but if that's what it takes to accelerate my success... so be it... I'm still a "nobody" so this is really just MHO at least for now...-Kel

Writing for libraries/film/tv is a comletely different animal. For one thing, it's not a fast track to success and for anther thing, it's a different way of thinking about music and the business. A person listening to a live performer will most likely react differently than if they were sitting in an office trying to find a piece that fits a scene in a tv show.If you're looking for the same high you get from performing, you will most likely have to wait a while and invest time and money in to constantly improving your writing and production. If you're satisfied where you're at and the gigs are fulfilling, that's great. If you want placements, you need to learn the game, and the game includes rejection and emotional ups and downs.Good luck, mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

[quote author=celeste board=complaints thread=14790 post=151716 time=1248135296]www.myspace.com/celestialsoundsButterfly Dance and Trout Stream were rejected once, then forwarded; however, they seem to have been forwarded into cyberspace. These two tracks have significant tuning issues. The guitar is very sharp of the flute, making for an uncomfortable listening experience. The guitarist should have tuned to the flute, instead of A 440 with a tuner.
